Not that good for the price. My son and I went to eat there today. We got the fried mushroom appetizer that wasn’t half bad only because the ranch dressing was pretty ok. I got a roast beef po boy, or should I say a half po boy. I had no idea it was half by reading the menu. The roast beef was tough with barely any gravy. For the price I paid I could have gone to Johnny’s in the French Quarter and gotten a whole po boy! My son got the chicken parm and it had very little red sauce and that was very bland. We don’t plan on going back
Average place, decent food, good service.. This was our first visit here. It is a small place, and filled quickly with locals coming for Saturday dinner. We started with the onion rings, which were fantastic. A bit on the large side, but with a wonderful crispy batter, and good dipping sauce. This was easily enough for four people, we could not finish them. My wife had the Hwy 59 Seafood Pasta. It was very good, but she mentioned that she did not find any crabmeat, but was happy with the amount of crawfish and shrimp.I had one of their seafood platters, but don’t remember the name. It was something like the Riverland seafood platter, it comes with a soft shell crab, and was $22.95. There was plenty of food here, enough for two. Unfortunately, except for the fish, it was all overcooked. Oysters were cooked so much that they were just little balls of crunch. We finished with the bread pudding. It was okay, nothing to write home about. I would not get it again. The service was good, though. Courtney took good care of us, and did a fine job of getting us out quickly when we mentioned we were on the way to a concert and had to get on the road.We are not locals, and probably will not go out of our way to eat here again. However, if we were local, I definitely would give it another try. It seemed to be very popular, so the food must generally be pretty good. Perhaps this was just an off night for them.
Really gone downhill. I used to eat here 1-2 times a week but the food and the service has deteriorated so much that my last three visits were awful. The service is slow which would be all right if the orders came out correctly but that wasn’t the case. I miss the old Camellia Cafe where the food quality was high and the staff cared about their customers.
If you not white do not go there. We ordered and sat for an hour while everyone was served. Twice the waitress gave us an excuse lost order and someone stole the hashbrown. Perhaps this place does not want minorities in their restaurant.
Great atmosphere and great food. I absolutely love this place. They’ve been through some changes recently, and all for the better. The fisherman fried green tomatoes with a crawfish touffe drizzled over the top is a must-have (appetizer). They have a fairly price-diverse menu as well.
Delicious every time we eat there.
Wednesday was senior discount day so it was very busy. It took a while to get a dozen raw at the bar. The oysters were pretty good though. Abnormally salty. The shrimp muffuletta was simply a po’boy on a round bun, nothing special. Very cheap draft beer! I will return.
