Finally Used Gift Certificates. For the Slidell, La. restaurant:My husband and I were wanting something different for dinner and we remembered we had gift certificates to Copeland’s , so we checked out the menu and ordered take-out. We both had the Crab cakes Shrimp Alfredo and we shared a piece of Alex’s Carrot Cake.First of all, I could not tell you how this food tasted because it was so loaded down with cayenne pepper, it actually made my lips and tongue swell a bit. My husband wolfed it down and drank enough water to flood our kitchen, to get the heat out of his mouth. On the side of the crab cakes was a very dry biscuit which crumbled and didn’t even help us to cut the heat. The carrot cake is eight bucks a pop, and it’s tall. It’s also dry and has a very thin layer of icing. You are kind of deceived into thinking there is a ton of cream cheese icing, but they swirl some cheap whipped cream around on the ends to make it look…better. I’ve never had carrot cake that is so dry that the big shredded pieces of carrot are separating from the cake itself. Whew. Not much taste, moisture, or icing. LOTS of shredded carrot. For that price, I did expect better. We are natives and have never been to the restaurant in all the years it has been there. It took getting what basically amounted to free dinners to get us in. We will NOT be going back.

Catfish a Meneure, baby!. Excellent, fresh, Cajun-inspired cuisine. Yes, it’s overpriced, and yes, the wait can be ridiculous to get a table. But it’s Slidell and if you’re looking to celebrate, you can’t beat this location of Copeland’s.

Over-priced, over-salted.. Not only that but the staff is unprofessional. Steaks are good but made the mistake of ordering shrimp fettuccine and it was so salty I could not eat it (and I like salt). They refused to take it off the bill even though I did not eat it and offered a coupon for my next visit for which I told them I would not come back. They think Cajun food is dumping a can of Tony’s on something. Sucked!

Worth a Shot. The food was really good here. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The manager came out to great us because it was our first time there. Got the crawfish bread and it was great.

Excellent food! Great service. Overall great place to go once in a while because price tag can be rather exspensive.

I hadn’t been to Copelands in 5 years. What a disappointment.
