This is the only Panera I’ve ever been to, so this review will be mostly about my opinion of Panera in general rather than being specific to this location.I heard a lot of good things about Panera, which I think made me start with unrealistic expectations. The restaurant concept confused me. The size of the building lead me to expect a sit-down restaurant with waiters, but no. It’s like fast food in that you order at the counter, get your plate, and then go sit wherever.Considering that Panera is known as a bakery, I assumed that their baked treats would be the great. Not so much. I tried the cinnamon scone, and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t amazing. It was big and looked good in the display case, but in the end it was just average.The signature hot chocolate was better. It had a caramel drizzle and chocolate chocolate-chip marshmallows, the latter of which I rather liked. If I was more of a marshmallow fan, I’d buy a bag of them. The drink itself though seemed like something I could’ve gotten out of an instant hot chocolate pouch.Overall Panera isn’t bad, but both the food and dining experience lack something, making it feel surprisingly generic. Keep your expectations realistic though and you’ll probably enjoy it for what it is.
