The S&H Good Eats is just that, good eats. Somewhat a hole in the wall, the place is just a simple southern Louisiana eatery, hearty poboys, gumbo, and the usual blue plate specials. My favorite thing there is the enchilada, which is more like a burrito, a big tortilla filled with homemade chili and smothered in cheese. S&H is a great place to get a down home bite for a reasonable price.
S&H is the type of place that I seek out. The very definition of Mom & Pop. Parking lot was packed and I had to park on the grass. Inside you will find about 7-8 tables I what used to be the living room of an old house. All the condiments are probably purchased at the local grocery store as you are given a bottle of Hunts ketchup, Welch’s grape jelly, etc. I ordered the Texas Toast breakfast sandwich with hash browns. The hash browns were solid and crisp. I enjoyed my sandwich as well, but when you see the picture, you may notice it is regular toast, not Texas Toast. Not sure of they were out of Texas Toast, or simply don’t understand what it is. Either way, this was a good choice for breakfast, and I’m intrigued to try lunch as well.
