Dissapointed. Call this morning to confirm the hour. Drove from Baton Rouge via New Orleans to pick up the inlaws to find people eating inside the host ask how many. To find they dicided to close at 2:45pm on a Sunday. Last time we here. I guess we not good enough to eat there
Best Fried Catfish. I have eaten here since they moved off of Gause after Hurricane Katrina. I have never been disappointed with any of their food. The daily soups are the best and they have the best fried catfish I have ever had. I eat there at least once a week.
We go to Vera’s 5 to 6 times a month. It is always a good experience. The fried shrimp are the best in the area. The service is excellent & the owner & his staff are the best. To be fair I have a hard time getting past the fried shrimp but my husband loves the soft shells too. We like the gumbo & crab fingers as appetizers. The raw oysters are also a treat. They have worked hard to give their customers a great atmosphere. We remember the lake location was great, but they have made a great transition.
The food was over priced for the quality… The server never came back once she served the food… I got the blackened catfish and fries. The catfish was bland fries hard… Will not return
Delicious!!! Large amount of food for a reasonable price. Authentic Louisiana food… Especially the gumbo. Great fish and great homemade blackening seasoning. YUM!
Good Basic Fried Seafood. Strip mall location is not appealing and dcor is cheesy. Seafood does not compare with the good stuff you would have in Lafayette or maybe even Baton Rouge but it is fresh and well fried although underseasoned. Comes with the kind of green salad local restaurants used to serve and predictable potato choices. Inexplicably they serve this with sliced white bread, where is the good French bread? BUT, good seafood is rare in Slidell, a sea of chain restaurants, boneless chicken places, and bars dressed like eating places so Vera’s IS exceptional in this town. A recent fried soft shell crab dinner was yummy and price was good too.
Great seafood.
