With such shining reviews, I figured this simple burger joint must be something special. I was wrong. The first thing I noticed was the compete lack of menu along the drive-thru. I ordered something basic to better judge: a double cheeseburger with lettuce and mayo, a side of fries, and a water. Instead, I received a double cheeseburger with tomato, mustard, raw onion, and confetti lettuce, a side of fries, and a water. First, the burger itself: grey, dense, and lifeless. I wouldn’t even call this a good burger, much less a great one. It’s obvious no attention to quality was given to the meat. The bun was also soggy and squashed. Second, the fries: worse than the burger. They are large crinkle-cut fries with an airy interior, and soggy exterior. They’re not fried to a golden, crispy perfection; they’re yellow and limp. They give the strong impression that they were purchased from the freezer section of a grocery store. They were also virtually devoid of salt. They may have been edible with ketchup, but I wouldn’t know, because they didn’t give me any. They also didn’t give me any napkins, which would have been nice to have to clean my hands after wiping off the burger toppings I didn’t order. Lastly, and this is just nitpicking maybe, but they use styrofoam instead of paper.
Very simple atmosphere. Very friendly service. Great food. The Catfish Burger is the best fish sandwich I have ever had.
Good burger. Good fries. Cool place. What did you expect?Next. . .
Tasty. A great restaurant never disappointed. Only thing is its a lil pricy
Great member of the community. Dairy Barn reopened here a number of years ago and is still a great member of the Sulphur community. Some of the older crowd may remember leaving campus to run over to the old location on Willow to get a burger. It’s still the same family that runs Cotton’s in Lake Charles and Dairy Barn here. One time I asked Pierre what was the secret to the burgers. He said it wasn’t a secret, it was arriving at the store every morning at 7 am and freshly grinding the meat for the day that made the difference. You know, you can get a burger anywhere, but if you want a fresh burger with and a polite staff go to Dairy Barn.
Not bad, you can tell they ripped off all their food from Cottens but it’s quicker than driving all the way to Lake Charles. The drive thru lady is creepy she keeps staring at you and buts in to your conversation.
Marvelous.. Im counting down the days to when they bring back that delicious Egg Nog Shake!! Absolutely Delish!!! I love Dairy Barn.
