Decided to trust the reviews so I went there and ordered a large oyster poboy. The only good thing about the poboy was how big it was for the price. Other than that the oysters tasted like they were drowned in fryer grease. I tossed half of it away it was so bad. Not going there again.
Debit Transaction. Shame on Ryan’s Convenience for allowing someone to use my lost (and then subsequently stolen) debit card to make a $75 transaction without even checking for a valid license to go with my card.
Best Muffuletta. I haven’t eaten a muffuletta from Ryan’s in a few months. I just returned from a trip to New Orleans and I did eat muffulettas from Central Grocery, the inventor of the muffeletta and what is supposed to be the 2nd place muffuletta in New Orleans which is at The Napoleon House in the French Quarter. I can tell you that the olive salad at Central Grocery is by far the best of all of them. However, the muffuletta from Ryan’s, because of the enormous amount of meat that is put on the muffuletta, is by far the best overall. The muffs in New Orleans have about 25% of the meat that Ryan’s puts on their muffs. For Muffulettas, Ryan’s is No. 1.
The Best. They have the best Po-Boys and muffalettas on the market…..totally worth driving out of your way for…….be warned service is not always the best.
Havent eaten here in years but my most favorite thing was the king cakes. Always delicious and always sold out. Does anyone know if they still bake them?
Good Overstuffed Po-Boys in the Sticks. Hey, it is not Mother’s or Check In/Check Out quality or selection…but at least these guys know how to make a New Orleans style po-boy. If you are marooned in the sticks and need a po-boy fix, check out Ryan’s Deli. They even have fresh Hubig’s Pies at the checkout stand…not bad for Hammond. Their meatball/provolone, roast beef & muffuletta sandwich / po-boy (s) are very tasty, as are the fried shrimp (the fried oyster look/smell fresh, too, but I am not a fan of fried oysters….). This is one of the few places you can go in Hammond and not be woefully disappointed.
Awesome. HUGE Muffulettas. Packed with good deli meat. Be warned- the large IS large… Plenty for 4 people.
