Though they have cut days and hours of opening, catch them when they are open for a good home cooked meal. A good local family and long-tiime employee…

Stick with the popcorn shrimp which is the best. Also great hush puppies and shrimp and corn bisque. Tried some of hubby’s crab fettachini and thought it was gross. Very bland and dry. Wasn’t impressed with any of the broiled dishes I tried. Go on Fridays for their $5 lunch, lots of food. Restaurant has been around for a very long time and it is always packed in Fridays. Mainly senior citizens. I will just stick with the popcorn shrimp, the bisque and the hush puppies as it is the only menu items that are good to me.
Terrible, use to be consistent cheap fried seafood. Now they have cut back, charge more and taste bad.
Outdated, horrible smell, low quality food. We have been here recently because everyone in this area seems to love this place. Once we moved here. we figured why not?First, the smell of either a poorly cleaned building or poorly sanitized kitchen is horrible. the place stinks. The decor is completely outdated and the building interior seems in poor shape. The ceilings are stained throughout and it just looks bad.Second, as others have said, you can only get fried food here that’s edible. Keep your expectations low. Dont expect anything else to be decent or of any quality. Everything else is overpriced and a waste of time and money.I attempted to get a salad with a crab meat topping. Every single bite was filled with shells in the nearly flavorless meat. Every-single-bite. It was horrible. I did tell the waitress nicely who simply apologized but offered nothing to fix it. After the 3rd bite and much nausea and tooth pain, I gave up and packaged it to go (since it was at or over $10) but I pretty much trashed it. My husband did a pasta which was deathly salted and made with cheap liquid cheese and was overpriced microwave macaroni.I honestly do not get the hype or the positive ratings about this place. It’s horrible. This is south Louisiana! Why dont we have ANY moderately-priced seafood and steak restaurants??!! Why aren’t there any decent places that serve real seafood dishes or grilled seafood, etc.? If anyone in this area ate anything other than fried foods, this place would be in need of a call to the tv show Restaurant Impossible. It was and is apparently a hot spot for the senior citizens, but im guessing that the tastebuds also go with age?People continue to recommend this place to us when we lament over poor choices in this area…we may return to give it once last shot, but we havent done so in over 8 months and often choose the sonic drivethru for grilled chicken wraps over this place.
Only order Seafood. Please be advised, that if you go to this restaurant, you should ONLY ORDER THE FRIED SEAFOOD. Which is pretty delicious. Do NOT, for the love of food, order anything Italian sounding or anything else. It will be gross, and awful and you will regret the day you didn’t take my advice. My husband ordered the Chicken parmigiana, and you could still taste the can on the sauce, I don’t even think they nuked it, and the noodles were over cooked. I ordered the fried eggplant with shrimp etoufee and it was the worst fry job on a vegetable, pale, cold, not crispy; and the etoufee was just clear goop with some shrimps in it, no flavor to speak of. And the garlic bread, which was extra, was some bread with liquid margarine smeared on it. Yuck yuck yuck.In the past their fried shrimps were good. So stick with those.09 Sep, 2010Excellent Shrimps!. I’ve only been able to go one Friday for their lunch, but it was fabulous! Having been so disappointed by a few other restaurants in the area, I was so happy to finally get excellent fried shrimp. The batter is well-seasoned without being over-bearing. Service was quick. Also, for a family restaurant the ambiance is nice and dark. For the price, definitely the best fried shrimp lunch in town.
Good food in general for the price. A little bland. If u can make it through the sea of old people on Fridays for lunch and you don’t mind the smell of urine
A Thibodaux Classic. My dining partner, a Kentucky girl, is STILL talking about the soft-shell crab she had there four years ago! Unpretentious local food by people who know what they’re doing. And yeah–deep-fried is the way to go. But if you want healthy, eat a salad…
Great Lunch. You can’t beat thier Friday lunches..white beans and popcorn shrimp is my favorite. You also can’t beat the value. The food is also great at night; however, you can expect to be there for a while. It is usually crowded and the service is a bit slow. Overall a Thibodaux favorite…you can tell by the number of cars in the parking lot.
