Much again the same as last time…. This time I arrived for lunch. The selections did not taste as good as a lower quality cafeteria. Mass made food without proper preparation or seasoning. Will not try the deli or lunch area any time in the near future, or maybe ever! It is a waste of money, though you do get food, it is far below any standard of good South Louisiana cooking you would expect.21 Jun, 2010Meals so often fall short. A variety of plate lunches is offered, included daily entrees and sides. The entrees include: baked chicken; barbequed chicken; fried chicken tenders; meat loaf; chicken and sausage jambalaya; and red beans and rice with sausage. Sides include: smothered potatoes, broccoli casserole; macaroni & cheese; corn; carrots; green beans; mashed potatoes and gravy; and turnip greens. Often the entrees are acceptable and moderately priced, though sometimes overcooked and dry. The vegetables such as green beans are not just cooked but cooked until they are dead. Breakfasts are also served, though the grits are hard and lumpy, scrambled eggs are dry either plain or with the ham and cheese.
Stunned at the selection. After years in Phoenix and Louisville, I was stunned to find how amazing this Rouse’s was in comparison. I just wish I’d found it at the beginning of my trip instead of the end. Oh, and yeah, I still get a Rouse’s King Cake shipped to me every year.
