I’ve been here countless of times with friends in the past. The beer – good. The food…not so much. I guess if you have the buzzed hunger, the food will suffice.
Good food. The bartender worked like a dog to provide excellent service. The food was good brew pub food. They had a nice selection of craft beers. There is outdoor seating overlooking the river.
Food is decent, atmosphere is a bit dark and gets loud when they’re busy. The patio is nice during the summer if you can get a table out there. The one real negative about Gritty’s is the beer. They only serve their own beer and it’s pretty underwhelming when you compare it to all the great craft beer being brewed in Maine.
It’s a pretty good pace. Bar is great. Service is good. Fresh local food and a good place for a business lunch. The porch is a highlight….
Awesome!. I have been to Gritty’s every time that I have been in town on business over the last several months. I’m not sure how the food reviews on some of these reviews are so poor because every time I’ve been here, the food has been fantastic. The Pub Mac and Cheese w/Corn Bread and garnished with deep fried jalapenos is amazing, the Chicken Fingers are some of the best I’ve had, the Haddock Rueben is exceptional, and the homemade chips are always very good. It’s not fine dining but for pub food, it is outstanding. The beers offered are all very good with the Red Claw and the Bitter being my favs.
Eh.. The atmosphere here is great, the perfect place to have drinks with friends…however, the food is bland, nothing great…the service is pretty good considering how busy it usually is. bottom line, go to have fun socializing with friends, but get dinner before somewhere else.
Had a (kid-free) night out with my husband. The atmosphere was not packed for a Saturday evening. A live band was just starting to play. The pretzel appetizer with pub style was nice.Dessert at the end was ok-more filling than amazing.Overall it was a nice relaxing evening locale for post-college age folks like ourselves and others.
