Absolutely disgusting food and horrible service. This place used to be good several years ago and my husband and I used to go there quite frequently, but over the last few years, the food has been absolutely disgusting and the service has been equally horrible. Today, we went there for the first time in about 2 years. We had stopped going for a couple of years because of how poor our experiences had been the last few times we had been there. We figured we’d give it a try today as it had been quite some time since we had been there and we thought we’d give it another chance and see if things had improved since we were there last. Bad idea!! The food was cold and did not taste right at all. The lo mein noodles and the crab rangoon were like rubber and the sushi was just downright disgusting. I had to stop eating because it was so bad. On top of the horrible food, the service was completely lacking. When we needed refills on our drinks, our waiter was nowhere to be found. We finally had to flag down another waiter to get us our drinks. We also had to wait forever for someone to bring us our check. We literally sat there waiting for our check for a good half an hour, but our waiter was still MIA and no one had brought us our check. My husband finally got up and went to the front cash register to get someone to bring us our check so that we could get out of there. The woman at the cash register had to go and find our waiter and get him to bring it to us. Needless to say, he did not get a tip. It’s really too bad. When this buffet first opened back around 2003 or 2004, it was much better and we would go all the time, but it has definitely gone severely downhill over the years. We absolutely will never go back there. I don’t normally write reviews like this, but I felt the need to warn others to stay away from this place at all costs. My stomach is still feeling a bit queasy from eating there today. If you want a decent Chinese/American buffet in Bangor, go to Oriental Jade. At least their food is always fresh and the wait staff is much better.

My Go-To Chinese Place!. No matter whether we want take-out or eat-in, we always go straight to Happy China. Sure, not everything on their buffet is amazing, but the things we like are. And it’s a lot better and cheaper than going to certain other places that are nearby. I love thick-breaded dumplings, and they’re the only ones who make them the way I like. They serve crab legs on Saturday nights. They have a super delicious and tender red chicken that I fill half my plate with before eating anything else. Their crab rangoons are nicely balanced. Their pork wontons are a hidden gem amongst their steamer area. The fried dough? Better than anywhere else! They’re also the only ones who have fried whitefish, and now the only ones who have baked salmon. An old restaurant that closed down had the salmon as well, though Happy China does it better. There is only one thing that I wish they served, and that is Twin City Buffet, while they were open, used to have chicken thighs on a stick that was cooked in this awesome blend of sauces. I really wish I could get that now! The red chicken will have to do though. It’s just as good, but I miss the flavour. And lastly, I have GOT to mention my absolute favourite part of eat at Happy China! While most of their desserts are bland or dry, there is one item that I eat even if I am full to the brim; and that is their.. Actually, I don’t even know what you’d call it and it isn’t labelled. But it is a huge dish of sliced banana chunks that are smothered in banana pudding, layered with animal crackers, and finally topped with -THE BEST- whipped cream I have EVER had in my entire life! Admittedly, I sometimes take a bit more whipped cream/animal cracker mixture than is fair for the other guests, but I just can’t help it! I’m not really big on bananas, but this dessert.. Okay, I have to stop writing so I can go get it. Thanks for reading!

Mundane buffet. The food isn’t bad or anything, but as oriental buffets go, I didn’t find it enjoyable. Forgettable at best.

Great Food. The food is great but the waitresses have a lot to be desired they clear your plate before you are finished eating. They try to rush you out the door, and they never smile
