Worst Place To Watch Football. Worst experience of my football watching life……………. No volume for the pre-game show – manager said the problem was that there were too many games on at once for the volume to be turned up – I told him it was noon, the games didn’t start for an hour, and asked him again to turn up the volume so I could hear the pre-game while I waited for the Patriots game! Still no volume………………. Spoke with the owners father after the games started, told him I could not hear what the announcer was saying, he told me he could not turn the volume up because of all the other fans who were there, even pointed out a KC jersey wearing fan…………. So, with that logic, they had the volume so low on all the TV’s that no one could understand what was being said…………..WTF??? First time I have ever been to a Sports Bar/Resturant to watch football where the game on the large/main screen was the only game with any volume. I understand you can’t please everyone, this was not my first football game. I was in Bangor, Maine, expecting to see AND HEAR the Patriots first game of the season. I was simply amazed at the lack of customer service I experienced. Was I seriously in Maine trying to watch the Patriots play and they wouldn’t turn the volume for that game up because some guy was there with a KC jersey on???? I can’t speak for the rest of the place, but as a place to watch football, I will never go there again…………………….
Great pizza!. I had heard about how great the buffalo chicken pizza is at Hero’s from my 14 yr old son who had tried it with another family and you know what? He was right! We tried it last night and it’s amazing. The chicken is perfect spiced and there are different degrees of hotness to choose from. We got ‘hot’ which is one level shy of ‘hot damn and it was just as expected needing a cool down after every four bites or so. Yum! Yum! I highly recommend it!Oh ya, the cheese was surprisingly good too and was a great match up with the buffalo chicken.
First time in today for lunch and I will definitely be back. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic and tv’s everywhere. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my wife had the best grilled chicken sandwich she has ever had! Highly recommend trying.
They moved!!!. Hero’s has taken a road trip….from the outskirts of the city to the heart of downtown Bangor. Right on the waterfront (but no water view) Hero’s is now in the Penobscot Plaza next to Dunnett’s. They’ve done a nice job getting up and running quickly, and it’s very similar to their former location, but alittle brighter and certainly nearer alot more people, being just across the street from the new court building. Same great food and people…they’ve made a smart move, and should do very well.21 Feb, 2010Finally got it right…. This place has had a constant change of owners, but this time I think they’ve finally got it right…It’s a tough location, and doesn’t look like much from the outside, but wow..what a great bar, and the new owners are really nice people. Had a steak & cheese the other day that was superb…it’s alittle dark inside, but the young couple that own the place brighten it up, with their personalities (she just happens to be the Brewer HS Cheering Coach), and she also is the granddaughter of local sports personality George Hale…Give this place a try, and help them make a go of it.
