Same place?. Amy may have experienced fresh ingrediants and homemade sauce but the (one and only) time I was there I ordered linguine with white clam sauce. What I got was a sauce straight from a can of Pasterne and no fresh ingrediants. Very disappointing.

Never got a chance to try. My husband and I decided to check it out one day when we were in downtown and never got the chance. They only take cash! No debit, no credit cards, no checks. Who does this in 2012? I had heard that it was good food for a good price, but I don’t think I’ll be back even when I happen to be carrying cash. The dining area looked dirty and the waitress was surly.

Great value. It is true the service is a little ummmmm grumpy but it works and that is part of the charm. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. We often have takeout. Their pizza is good, their veal parm is as good as anywhere. If you are local you will probably run into someone you know. They do it their way.

Quirky, but nice. Tesoro does things its own way: no credit cards, unchanging menu, matter-of-fact service, and if it gets a little busy, you’ll just have to be patient. But there are some real rewards, beginning with the best pizza in town (we think). And while the menu doesn’t aspire to haute cuisine, it includes some items that you won’t find done better anywhere else, at any price (really!) – I would include here the veal marsala, the pasta fagioli, the putanesca sauce, even the garlic bread – intermingled, to be sure, with some less distinguished touches (soft rolls instead of good Italian bread, only jug wine, exceedingly tart marinated veggies, and uninspired deserts). The food may be more Italian-American than italiano, but it’s made from scratch, amply portioned, reasonably priced, and consistently good.

Good pizza. My husband & I stepped out of our comfort zone to try their pizza (b/c I heard it was good) and I’m glad we did. It is one of our favorite in town, which isn’t saying a lot, but it is still saying something. We’ve only gotten pizza to go, but when we go inside the ambiance is very old and I don’t think I’d want to eat there – just really outdated, and such a weird set-up. The service is okay…they aren’t rude, but they aren’t super nice either.

We love Tesoro! Real New York Italian…attitude and all! All the best to Fortunada and family, we’ll be back.

So sad!. I decided to try Tesoro since it’s close by and I’m always looking for a nice Italian place. Well, despite the delicious smells in the restaurant, I didn’t even eat there. The woman who waited on me was so unbelievably nasty that I left after getting my drink. I was looking at the full menu, just checking out the selection and she rudely was like ‘We ONLY have the stuff on the back’ (it was still lunchtime) It wasn’t as though I tried to order anything inside… I just was curious. When she asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a few minutes, she visibly rolled her eyes. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life and don’t need a server kissing my feet, but she was over the top rude. Worst part? She MUST have been the manager because nobody else was in there. I knew the experience would only get worse because I was already being treated like a common criminal before ordering anything– imagine if I asked for a drink refill or something. So, the manager has a major attitude problem, but if you can deal with that, the prices were right and, as I said, the smells were delicious.
