Delicioso. Ok, I never write reviews but this time I couldn’t resist. Let me begin by saying I’m very picky about Mexican food, growing up in southern California I have had the best Mexican food on the planet. I’ve eaten tacos all over Mexico, the best have been right from those little carts in the street. I also spent time in Texas getting to know that style as well. Ok, regarding A La Mexicana. Here we go.You will have a very difficult time finding a better Mexican restaurant anywhere in Maine. Good salsa, authentic food and great staff/owners. It is truly a gem, especially in a place as sleepy as Raymond. Great food and great prices. My personal favorites are the huevo rancheros and the carne asada. Portions are great and you will not walk away hungry.

Ugh. The night started off well. Friendly waitress, tasty chips & salsa. But then… very bland guacamole arrived (our appetizer) but dinner took forever to materialize. When it did, my chicken fajitas were far from sizzling and our waitress had disappeared. Very disappointed with the whole experience.

I was surprised to find out that this place was at such a high rating after I went there. The salsa should have been a sign that’s usually a good tell tale sign of the quality of the food at a Mexican eatery. It was soupy and bland, the food was just as bad. I ordered a ‘house salad’ and got a pile of iceberg lettuce with some tomatoes and cheese lightly sprinkled on top. Hardly worth the money I paid for it, the rest of the meal just felt like I was giving money away to eat food my 7 year old had cooked. I needed half a bottle of hot sauce to get any flavor out of the food I barely managed to get down. For the first time I’m my adult life I felt upset that I was actually giving money to this place that had served me quite possibly the worst food I’ve eaten. 40$ wasted, not impressed. STAY AWAY!!

Mouth-watering Mexican. I ate at A La Mexicana 8/16/12 and liked it so much, I returned for my birthday on 8/2012. The first visit I ordered the Steak Quesadila Fajita and it was to die for! I had never eaten at a Mexican restaurant where I couldn’t wait to return. Yes, I thought it was that good! My husband had a beef burrito and a chicken burrito and said both were outstanding. When I returned for my birthday, I had the Chicken Quesadilla Fajita and loved that , too. I wish this place weren’t an hour away from me! I would definitely be a frequent visitor!

OK Place to Eat. While the food was OK, the condiments and menus on the table were grimy and the number of wait staff was insufficient. May have been a bad night. We waited an hour for our food after placing the order.
