Good food, drinks and service. Food tastes just like the Portland El Rayo. Food came out very fast! Not sure what everyone else is complaining about. I’m glad they opened here in Scarborough!

There is nothin goo I can say about El Rayo, my wife and I went ordered a margarita that was small compared to the 8.50 price tag. We thought maybe an appetizer would be good, sadly we were mistaken, 3.95 for what amounted to a small plate of homefries with a drizzle of sauce. My wife ordered a taco plate, I ordered a steak taco and a pork burrito, my burrito came out wrapped in tin foil looking like something from the back of a lunch truck on a job site. My taco was so small that it averaged out to cost me a dollar a bite. My wife’s were all soggy and fell apart when she picked them up. This was a sixty dollar meal that left us both hungry when we were done.Stay clear of El Rayos if you looking for a good meal at a reasonable price.
Skip this place. Nothing good here. Staff was not creative enough to accommodate a party of 10 at one table. Food was below average 5 and they charge extra for chips and a tiny dish of salsa. Burrito was small and uneventful. Go elsewhere.
Not the best experience. Our visit was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The food lacked flavor and the margaritas were not prepared well. I believe my wife had a veggie burrito and I had a fish burrito. Hers was a bit better than mine but still lacked flavor. I should add that not only did the food lack flavor but the taste in General was a bit off. To be fair, the establishment had recently opened and it was a very busy night but our meals were still unacceptable.
Service issues aside (they are breaking in a new crew so I’m guessing that’s why our app and dinner and drinks showed up all at the same time?), there are far better places. I want to love it, it fills a need in Scarborough. Sadly, the portions are tiny(my 5 year old daughter could have finished my dinner) and not priced to match. I’d rather go to Taco Trio or into Biddeford(scary!).
Mexican food critic. The food was average at best…chips and salsa was NOT complimentary($3.75 for a small cup salsa and chios). In fact, if you need more salsa for the chips it’s an additional $2.50….Lunch cost us $30.00 plus tip for 2 people….no lunch menu so you pay dinner prices for everything. Go to Margaritas instead ….I’m from the south and this isn’t the place to go for Mexican food
