We stopped here for lunch on our way out of Portland. The food was good and didn’t take a terrible amount of time. We had the seafood stuffed haddock and the lobster roll. Both were very delicious and our plates were emptied!

First visit, good but super salty.. We had a living social coupon for the restaurant, I was pumped especially since I’d never been before. The view was pretty, I wanted to sit outside near the river but the host said it might get buggy so we stayed indoors. We ordered drinks, I got the martini flight which was super yummy, but our waiter didn’t come back for what felt like 15 minutes. He had several other tables around us and served them water and bread but didn’t stop back to see if we were ready to order dinner while we were waiting on our drinks. That kind of irked me. Once we did eventually get out bread, we were pleasantly surprised by the sweet butter it was paired with. Our fried calamari was good, but nothing special. I ordered the sea scallops which looked delicious, but there was sooo much salt on top. I had to ask for waters because our waiter never brought us any and I was so thirsty after a few bites. My bf ordered the steak tips, which were marinated and very juicy. The plates were pretty plane, mine came with just scallops, some risotto and 3 pieces of asparagus. The steak tips were just that with some simple mashed potatoes on the side. Overall it was a good experience, I’d definitely go back but will probably try something else next time. One of the martinis in the flight was so good I might have to ask if they can make me a full size version.

Awful!!. The worst food we’ve had in years. The onion soup is made with salty beef broth from a can or instant; clam chowder was served lukewarm and had no clams; the chicken pasta on the lunch menu was served in a ‘parmesan cream sauce’ that was like wallpaper paste and had no seasoning whatsoever; the seafood platter consisted of treated scallops from China, soggy undercooked calamari and clams, and fish that tasted days old. To top it all off, some of the poorest service ever. Never, never again.

Very poor place. As a former employee, the restaurant is not all it is cracked up to be. The food is extremely subpar, the servers are boring lackluster and just plain rude. Management does nothing to correct problems. And for all of you people that think that your server gets your generous tip, they don’t, the hold it hostage throughout the week. This place has a certain clientele. I have been a server most of my adult life, and I am a professional. I have worked for two very well established restaurants in two very large cities. This place is fake, rude and if you choose to go, go at your own risk. You will walk out dissatisfied.

This place could be so great but it’s missing a few key things that keep it on the other side of great. Nice waiter, a bit overpriced

Easter buffet–never again.. Our family party of 7 had reservations for Easter dinner. After waiting for over 15 minutes to be seated, we learned that only the buffet was available–no menu orders–despite what I was told when I made the reservation. Drinks–all but one–we’re brought to the table in a timely fashion. The cocktail (a straight-up bourbon) didn’t arrive until nearly 30 minutes into the meal. Our waitress was very inattentive, failing to remove plates or refill glasses. The food was nothing more than mediocre at best, with dry and tasteless desserts. Unappetizing, dismal experience. A bargain at a $225 tab? We won’t be back.

Gone Downhill. The Muddy Rudder was always one of my favorite restaurants for seafood. No More. Our last visit featured poorly prepared food (either undercooked or overcooked) and mediocre service. We told the manager about the problems and his response was he was going to talk with the chefs about it.He didn’t attempt to correct the problems. We won’t go back.
