Lovely setting for a New England brunch. The dining room faces a beautiful garden and the ocean in the distance. The Blueberry pancakes were delicious, the coffee refilled and full-bodied and the Omelette was filled with my selected items.
While this site obviously focuses on food and drink, please allow me to preface my brief review by stating that my stay at the Inn by the Sea was fantastic. The hotel is beautiful, well maintained, and a nice five minute stroll from the crystal clear Maine coast, for anyone looking for a nice, relaxing getaway in New England. We ate at Sea Glass three times during our stay — Twice for breakfast, once for dinner. The restaurant is simple and rustic. The staff is very friendly and professional. For breakfast, I had the Maine Crab Cake and Avocado Benedict. The crab cakes were packed with delicious crab meat, and served with fantastically crispy home fries. My only complaint was that the avocado was a little overripe and brown. For my second breakfast, I tried the Applewood Smoked Lox on a Bagel. While I am not certain if the salmon was house smoked, it was certainly good and served in a generous portion, alongside cream cheese, diced red onions, and capers. For dinner we had the Maine mussels appetizer served in a coconut curry broth, which was quite good. The mussels were very fresh, and I could have eaten the entire bowl of broth with some bread had I not had an entree coming. For my entree, I went with the Lobster Bake. With a market price of $42, the dish certainly was not cheap, but well worth the splurge. The lobster was cut and cleaned, served atop a bed of potato hash, ground sausage meat and corn, topped with parsley butter. The lobster was perfectly cooked and fresh, making the drive to Maine completely worth it with my first bite. While resort restaurants can usually be hit or miss, every meal had at Sea Glass exceeded expectations, and I cannot wait to return.
Not Very Good At All!. Had dinner with my large family in a private dinning room, on Dec 4 2013. The lobster bisque was super watery. The serano wrapped dates were aweful!! the very smallest piece of serano, fried to a crisp–there was no wrapping–and everybody knows that you don’t fry serano ham, the date was mushy and foul tasting. I had the Galcho flank steak, it was nothing to write home about. A very dissipointing meal to say the least.
The food was awful. Service was so so. We complained and management comped the entire meal, I was impressed with that. Hope this place gets better so we can try it again.
Had brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Very relaxed atmosphere. Sat outside & had lobster bisque and lobster roll. Samples the hand cut potato chips and hand made French fries. All were very good. I could eat the bisque every day. Had a Maine Mimosa & a Boody Mary. The Maine Mimosa is blueberry infused champaigne that was very tasty. The Bloody Mary has a slight bite that is nice. I liked it. Finished with a cheese tray. We ended up trying every cheese they offer & loved them all. Don’t be in a hurry when you’re here, service is slow! But a good over all experience.
LOVE SEA GLASS RESTAURANT!. I absolutely love the Sea Glass Restaurant! The seafood paella is wonderful, the gnocchi is out of this world, the ocean views are terrific – I can’t wait to go again.
Butter roasted lobster is divine!
