Good food, cold beer, excellent value, great service and amazing desserts make Finn’s Irish Pub a must visit in Ellsworth. Lady Meatballand I met up with my sister and her husband for a lovely night out at Finn’s and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Who would have guessed that some of the best desserts we’ve ever eaten would be found at a little Irish Pub in Ellsworth? Quite literally the best pineapple upside down cake I have ever eaten! We began with an order of Irish Nachos and a Mac & Frank to go along with an Allagash Beer and a few Bud Lights. The Irish Nachos were deep fried potato chips, topped with rasher bacon, pepper jack cheese, fresh salsa, jalapenos and sour cream. These were light on the cheese and the salsa was more like diced vegetables. Unfortunately this dish didn’t come together that great and rated 2.5. The Mac & Frank is the epitome of comfort food – a pot of homemade macaroni and cheese and two grilled hot dogs in toasted buns. The macaroni and cheese included a layer of sweet (stewed) tomatoes and was topped with bread crumbs. This was excellent! The hot dogs were tasty and the overall dish rated a 4. Great value for money.Next up we ordered mains, including the Crab and Avocado Salad, two Finn’s Burgers and a Grilled Cheese with Rasher Bacon – and more beers. The Crab and Avocado Salad was well received and was the highlight of the mains. This rated a 4. Unfortunately, both burgers were overcooked and the Grilled Cheese was missing the bacon. That said, the grilled cheese was served on marbled rye and was delicious. It was also served with a nice serving of garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. The Finn’s Burgers rated 2.5-3 and the Grilled Cheese rated 3.5-4.Lastly, we ordered more beers (switching to Guinness at this point) and most of their dessert menu, including the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, the Guinness Chocolate Cake, the Chocolate Truffle Cake and a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Pie/Cheesecake.The Pineapple Upside Down Cake was amazing – the best I have ever eaten. This was warm, delicious and rated a 5.The Chocolate Truffle Cake was near perfection and rated 4.5-5.The Guinness Chocolate Cake was a little dry and rated a 3.5, while the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Pie rated a 4.Overall, a wonderful meal with two appetizers, four mains, four desserts and seven beers for just over $110.

Awesome Irish pub ambiance. Bar is located in a refurbished passenger car with the restaurant. While enjoying delicious authentic Irish fare, one can peruve the tap handle collection as well as the bar’s collection of hilarious customer tchotchkes.I recommend the key lime pie martini. Yum!

I had dogs and beans, yum they were good. The blackened chicken was juicy and good flavor, the Allegash Fusion 2016 is a really good flavored beer. The bar had the best service.
