Probably the best breakfast in Ellsworth. My favorite is the bacon and cheese omelette with home fries and homemade toast. They also do nice pancakes, french toast, a variety of eggs Benedict, etc. Good food, good service and reasonably priced. You’ll find lots of locals here…definitely not a tourist trap.

Will not return. We have been coming to Riverside for about 6 years. The service has steadily gone down. In fact, we have started eating at the other breakfast places, but keep thinking that we will give Riverside one more try. We tried to eat at Riverside on Sunday the 27th of July. We waited in line behind a large group. The hostess/waitresses were having a difficult time trying to figure out how to seat the large group and were not seating anyone in any tables. They were holding a few small tables in an area in hopes of putting them together. After about 15 minutes, they were able to link enough together and seat the group. It was then that we were able to simply say that we needed a table for 2. The people behind us said that they had a reservation which then sent the hostess/waitress into another pinball game. They ran around bouncing off each other trying to put enough tables together for the large reservation. This was quickly done and they sat the 3 of the 12 in the reservation. The entire group was no where to be found. At this point the hostess informs us that it will be another 20 to 30 minutes. There were 3 booths open that had nothing to do with the large groups. I asked why we could sit in a booth. She said that the just sat the large group (please remember that only 3 of them were present). We walked out with several other people in line. We will never return. We used to eat there at least 12 to 15 times a year. Will take our business elsewhere or will eat at home.
Best breakfast around, we tried all the places in Bar Harbor they almost twice the price and no where as good as this place.
My husband and I went for breakfast and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the crab Benedict, which came with large chunks of fresh Maine crab and a delicate hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito served with fresh salsa. Since we were traveling with our dog, we ordered ham and eggs for her. The ham steak was huge and fantastic by human standards. A great breakfast spot!
Fair for breakfast. Scrambled eggs were inedible, but omlette was fine. Cinnamon roll was okay. Blueberry pancakes were fine with side of $2.00 maple syrup. Nonetheless, place was jammed with locals.
