My friends say it is good. Went to a place that all my friends say is good. We walked in neat little resturant in downtown hallowell. Stood there for a few minute waiting to be seating and ask about the third employee that walked by if we could get a seat. We were ignored. All the employees that walked by gave us a dirty look and finally one said that we would have to come back some other time that we could not be seated even we could see empty seats. They were busy however but nobody even took the time to tell us that we would need to wait to be seated or how long it will be they just said come back another time. I will not be going back to find out if I maybe can be seated by these smug rude people.

Great Pub. If you are looking for a crowded pub with good food and local brews, this is the place in Augusta area… Not what I would’ve chosen for the #1 eating out place here, but good nontheless. If you are looking for a great restaraunt with local flair, but upscale, Slate’s a couple blocks down is where you want to go. Or for a truly Mainer experience go to the A1 diner and get great quality food, no hype and a menu that constantly changes. Fabulous! That would basically be my top 3 for the Augusta eating experience. The Govenors is nice but REALLY overpriced for the quality and quantity.
Amazing!!! The BEST restaurant in the area by far with an inventive, yet comforting and affordable menu. Great atmosphere, open late. And to make it even better, they brew their own beers!! (Try the Tarbox Cream Stout or the Alewife Ale) Fyi: Hallowell is the ‘cool’ neighborhood of Augusta, so look around and maybe take a walk by the river after you are done eating 🙂
More of the Same. I hate to be crtical, but I recently went into the Liberal Cup for lunch, and was not impressed. While it may be rated the number one restaurant in the region, I mst say, it is nothing special. This bar is basically just another microbrwewery, like several I have experienced. The food is like a traditional bar’s but no flair, nothing to make it memorable. This is a great place for a drink and to spend time with friends, but just not the caliber to be rated the number one restaurant. Those who say that the Liberal Cup is the pinnacle of Capital dining, I regret to say, really need to get more experience and realize you can find several places like Liberal Cup in many small cities. Recently, I saw numerous places like Liberal Cup on my trip to Europe, so it is not even unique to the U.S. I must give a thumbs down to Liberal Cup. This is my opinion, and I’m sorry if it offends.
