Great popovers and lobster bisque! A bit pricey overall but the setting is beautiful. We didn’t have to wait too long for a table. It came recommended and I’m glad we stopped.
What’s a popover? It’s kinda like a thin hollow croissant; warm, flaky, chewy, browned on the outside but not hard, and hollow in the middle. It, the blueberry iced tea, and the Chowder are all good enough that you don’t want to miss this place when you are in the park. A different reviewed said the soup didn’t have a lot to it.. I disagree, there was about a cup and a half of seafood chunks in my two cup bowl of soup. The flavor wasn’t super fancy just rich with cream and chunks of meat. They had a kids menu (priced kinda high IMO @ 7$) but the kids got enough to eat, so that’s all that matters when you are on vacation. We sat inside, it was very bright and clean. Our waitress was delightful. We might return just to have some popovers later this week, because that has been everyone in the families favorite thing.
Delicious food, incredible view, great service. Salads were great, crab cakes were okay, popovers were fantastic. Nice outdoor seating. Great service, considering how busy they were. Would definitely visit again!
Well, what can I say. We waited for about 15 minutes when I counted 6 tables open. After other guests asked why, the hostess replied she didn’t see them open. The service staff was not helpful in any aspect whatsoever. The food was WAY overpriced. 16 dollars for a cup of soup…what!!? This soup, by the way, was 1 part lobster to 9 parts watery cream. Terrible. The sandwich ingredients came directly from the fridge; the bread, turkey, and bacon were freezing. Everything was cold but the salad.. The only menu item remotely scrumptious were the popovers
Nothing to write home about…. Waited and waited and waited for our waitress. She gave us water; I thought it strange there was no ice, no straws, no lemon. Pacified us with 2 pop overs with butter and strawberry jam since it took her so long to get to us (thankfully, too, because they were the best part of the meal). I so wanted to order a chowder or bisque, but it was SIXTEEN dollars a CUP! Seriously? I have never tasted a soup that good. Decided on the Buffalo meatloaf sandwich. It was okay, and that’s all I can say about the entire experience. The interior, the service, the food…all just okay.
Change of ownership, but still good. Hey, the popovers are still great, and it’s an awesome view. We’ve been coming to this place for years. Last year there was a change in ownership, and there’s been a few changes to the menu. It’s become a bit more expensive but not outrageous at all for what you get. Further, we found the service and seating process still very efficient. Basically if you’re in Acadia this is de rigeur. Enjoy the beautiful views, and load up on the popovers and tart blueberry lemonade.
