Horrible and tasteless food. Highly overpriced.. My wife and I often drive past the Lucerne in on our way to visit friends in Bar Harbor. Last Sunday, July 20, was her anniversary so we decided to stop in at the looser dead for dinner. The appetizers, the bread and clam chowder was very good. We were expecting a continuation with the entres. Sadly, that was not the case. My wife ordered the steak, while I ordered the chicken Cordon Bleu. The steak was well prepared and would have been a good value at $12. Unfortunately, the Inn charged $30. The chicken Cordon Bleu was ineditable. The chicken was crunchy and undercooked, the breading tasteless, and the dish lacked any cheese. To my thinking, cheese is necessary for chicken Cordon Bleu. We make a habit of not complaining about the food unless we are asked, which we were by our server. We explained the reason that the chicken had not been eaten, and she returned from the kitchen claiming that the restaurant would deduct $7.00 dollars from the $80 bill. Given the ostentatiousness of the dining room and the advertising, we expected significantly more from this restaurant. Less than an average restaurant even from Maine, and I believe undeserving of the reputation.
Amazing food. The atmosphere is of an older feel but the wait staff is attentive and friendly. It’s a small dining room but watching a sunset from the large vista is great.
We go here at least once a week. We got engaged here. My sister got married here. It’s not only charming but the food is good and Dave, the bartender is professional and fun!
That was a real fine meal. Over the years, driving out to eat at the Lucerne Inn has sometimes been hit-or-miss as different chefs came and went. But this last occasion, a cold winter’s night a few weeks ago, was a real hit; we had the Pork Wellington and the mushroom crepe, and both were simply outstanding; as was the dessert. Good bread, good wine, good service, and pleasantly traditional ambience near a working fireplace combined for a very nice dining experience. We’ll be back sooner, this time.
Old school American fine dining. Service is above average for the area.
Great brunch
The best Sunday brunch in the area. You won’t find better. HUGE, varied selection with both the usual and the unique in a refined setting designed for upscale enjoyment. Dress up and you’ll savor the food all the more with white linen and a beautiful view winter or summer. Stay a night in the Inn as well: it’s a great get-away but loved by locals too. Very nice!
