Awkward from start to finish. Came into this restaurant on a Sunday around 5pm. A disclaimer was posted on the front door explained that all dishes take 20-40 minutes. Awkward. Unwelcoming. We entered the restaurant and the dining room was closed. There were some servers sitting at a table in the dark dining room and they told us that the upstairs bar was open. So, we went up.Bar was empty except for one patron and one bartender.Bartender was openly complaining about how the bar was not stocked. I asked for a bailey’s and she said ok then informed me that she did not have that in stock and would add it to her order list. My friend ordered a whiskey, neat. That took about 5 minutes to deliver to her. Not a long wait, just awkward as she repeatedly complained about the poorly stocked bar. Bartender then asked if we wanted to have something to eat. I asked if I could look at a menu. Before she gave me a menu she asked us to wait as she had to ask the kitchen what they were out of. This was not a big deal but it just added to the awkward, unwelcoming vibe.We ordered onion rings and popcorn shrimp. Waitress asked if we wanted cocktail sauce, we said sure. She went looking for some and came back saying she was sorry but they were out of cocktail sauce. Although we juse offered snacks, the onion rings and shrimp were mediocre at best. Portons were very small.Got the bill and paid, cash. The bartender had to go downstairs in search of change. We were now the only patrons in the restaurant. The owners were there sitting at the bar, and also a few kitchen staff members. Owner was chatting withe us, telling us about where he came from and his culinary background. We had now closed our tab and finished our drinks. Bartender came back and said she charged us for the drinks and forgot the food. So we ended up reversion our cash transaction and then I paid, again, on my card, with the additional charge. Awkward. Service and food were poor and every step of the ordering and paying process was awkward and lengthy – especially given the fact that we were the only people there. Going through 2 transactions to settle the tab…settling up and then being asked to pay more…was just plain awkward. It is such a great spot and I am sad that the Cajun Lobster is falling in line with the poor service and food that existed when it was Catp’t and Pattys.I will not return.
Even the view can’t save this place.. I had lunch there today and I can say it was without a doubt the worst meal I have ever had. The lobster meat was canned at best and the fries were not cooked all the way through. I tried to order a beer and the waitress had no idea what kind of beers they had and then she proceeded to ask me to name a beer and she would see if she had it. They had no beer other than Guiness….nothing says Cajun like guiness, said no one ever! The whole experience was not only disappointing but grossly over priced for quantity and quality of food. My boyfriend ordered a cocktail and was given a half a cocktail for full price. I give this place a less than zero on all categories.
