Love It!!!!. Excellent place. Fresh fresh food, talented chef and owner, amazing hospitality. A great place to chill and feel comfortable why sampling the chef’s work. Look forward to returning over and over again. Oh, and cool music as well!
On our annual trip to Ogunquit we came back here. Again very good. They now have a liquor license. Serve very good beers, including Gritty’s Vacationland Summer Ale, my favorite summer beer. My wife had the crispy salmon salad. Excellent, especially the salad dressing.02 Aug, 2011We went here because the previous review raved about it and we are very glad we did. One of my favorite sushi restaurants in the country. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls all excellent. My son and I were going to order a rainbow roll and the waiter said it was similar to other one’s we has just eaten. He recommended two of the the most popular rolls. We decided on the double j. It was fantastic. My son and I could not eat it fast enough. If I lived in town this would be a place I went to often.
One of our absolute favorites!. This has become the highlight of our now yearly weekend getaway to Ogunquit. Located in the heart of town, we had eyed this place from the first time we drove in and on our last day before leaving, a friendly local noticed us checking the place out and politely grabbed my girlfriends hand and said ‘If you love sushi, you HAVE to go here!,’ and recommended the lobster sushi roll. We went as soon as it opened for lunch though were saddened when we were told they didn’t have lobster, but no sooner did our sushi chef say that did the local lobster fisherman walk through the door to drop off the mornings catch. Sick! The lobster roll can be order ‘x2’, which has more lobster baked on top of the roll itself – it is so worth the extra $5, and for $20 total, we felt there was more lobster meat than the $30 ‘lazy man lobster’ that I got the night before in Perkins Cove. It is hands down the best sushi roll we’ve ever had and is something we crave all year until we get back over the summer months. We brought our food loving friends the year after our first visit and they too instantly fell in love with the place. We’ve tried a few other types of their sushi rolls, as well as a seafood salad and oysters and it has all been consistently top notch. It’s BYOB, with a reasonable corkage fee. As for service, the sushi chef recognized us the year after our first visit which we thought was awesome. We had nice chats with him as well as the owner and look forward to going back this year. Surprisingly, it’s never been all that busy the 4-5 times we’ve been and I can only think that in a touristy town like Ogunquit, in a modest state like Maine, people are pretty traditional and come for their baked lobsters. That’s completely fine, but that makes me love this place even more – I’m sure the owner could have opened up a non-distinguishable lobster shack and made an easy buck, but he set up shop in the middle of town and did something completely different. Definitely give this place a try!
