I went for here for my birthday after having the restaurant recommended by a local innkeeper. The atmosphere was nice, and a bit energetic. We had to wait about 10 for an 8:30 reservation which wasn’t too bad. We ordered a bottle of white wine. The waiter was lackluster, not very engaging. That’s too bad because he set an aloof tone to our dining experience. He did his job but not with any enthusiasm or pride. He came out and brought some bread and without acknkowledging us, poured some olive oil into a dish before walking away. The bread was boring. We were expecting some warm crusty bread, but instead, it was room temp and didnt have much flavor. We shared clam chowder with bacon which was very nice. For my meal, I ordered the tuna over white beans, shrimp and sauted kale. The overall flavor was good, but two things were disappointing about it. First, it wasn’t hot… Most likely had been sitting too long before being brought out. Second, the shrimp were very tough, most likely precooked and then warmed again. The dessert was the best part of my meal… A blueberry crustada. That came out hot and had really good blueberry flavor. So, I can’t say that I didn’t like the restaurant, but I also can’t say that I’ll make this my first choice in the future with all the other options in the area. Too bad, because it seemed like it would have been a better dining experience.
The clam chowder was very good with lits of bacon flavor. The bread served at the table was very boring , not very crusty and served cold. The papradelle with wild boar ragu was just ok, I have had it better elsewhere, and was served only warm, it sat out for awhile before it was brought to the table. The highlight of the meal was the blueberry crustada with a yummy ice cream. The waiter (joshua)did nit really sem that interested in being there at all, kind of aloof. The place has potential and needs a bit of work in the kitchen.
