Intimate atmosphere. A great choice in a town with a huge amount of great dining choices. Atmosphere is intimate, and hushed, which is a premium here in summer! Food selection was marvelous, and appetizers could be considered a tapas menu…a very good date restaurant.
Good food, excellent service. This was the best service I had the entire time I was in Ogunquit. It was actually so good that I still remember the name of my server a few weeks later – Chris. He was attentive without being too attentive, friendly without being fake about it, and right on with all the recommendations and the general upkeep of the table (water, etc).My boyfriend and I like to order several appetizers and split them in lieu of an entree (which is usually too much food) and that is what we did at Gypsy. If my memory serves me, I had the lobster bisque, the Raspberries, Walnuts & Goat cheese salad, and I followed that up with the toffee caramel creme brulee. The bisque was the perfect level of flavor without overpowering the lobster and despite the obviously limited amount of lobster, it was my favorite presentation of the meat while in Maine. The salad was a little off – it seemed to be missing something – but was still tasty. And the toffee caramel creme brulee? Really, do I need to say more than the name?Definitely on my list of places I’d recommend to friends and family while in Ogunquit.
