The bread that is brought to the table is boring and had no substance or body. The clam chowder is very good with the addition of bacon.(yumm) the Cuban pork with black beans and rice were good except just a bit heavy on the salt. Really good flavor.

Reluctantly disappointed. Ever feel like a restaurant is thinking it is doing you a favor by allowing you to dine in their place? Unwelcoming attitude aside, too much fried food, mediocre preparation, inexperienced service and questionable pricing. On the positive side, menu sounds good and parking is convenient.

Quality food. We had a nice early dinner at 5 oclock since my friend and i had to travel home . The service was indeed prompt, pleasant, courteous. The restaurant was very clean and cozy. We sat outside with a water fountain witch distracted the noise from route 1.We ordered the delicious home made crab cake, well done and not dry like we sometime get, as for the spinach salad I found it a bit too ordinary , the dressing was fineOur second was shrimp&lobster w/ smooth ricotta gnocchisand Meyer lemon sauce, excellent although the lobster was on the dry side.My friend had the pad thai with roasted vegetables , much too sweet and stiil searching for the vegs, too pricy for noodles.Overall we would go back must change the pad thai…

Creative contemporary American cuisine in a quaint setting. Roost Cafe & Bistro was the perfect place for a break from Maine’s usual seafood offerings. We called ahead and confirmed that they did accept credit cards and also made reservations for our large multi-family party. The person on the phone was courteous and prompt, confirming the large party reservation, and were also warned that the kitchen was small and the food may not be served simultaneously. We sat inside a roomy area spread over two tables. Without a children’s menu, our children enjoyed full entrees or shared what we ate, which was fine. The chef came out and chatted with us frequently and the server was wonderful and responsive. The dinnerware was very clean though not all utensils were matching. My wife ordered the penne with roasted mixed vegetables, sun dried tomatoes, arugula pesto & feta cheese and I ordered the pork chop with green apple compote, herb whipped potatoes & apple cider demi, while our child enjoyed the pan seared salmon filet with citrus beurre blanc and caramelized celery root, which was enough to share with his younger siblng. All of the dishes were flavorful and not too salty, with plenty of portions. Others in our party were very pleased with their dinners, which were presented beautifully and served in a timely fashion, partly because it was one of the less busy days of the week. A peek inside the kitchen confirmed the smaller cooking capacity you might expect of larger restaurants. The desserts were a nice finish to a very pleasant evening. Overall, we were very pleased with our night out. If you’re in a hurry, find a fast food joint. This place is worth the wait if you want to sit and enjoy the casual bistro atmosphere.
