Pizza but not Fresh ingrediants?. Dont understand how you can have great basic and yet crappy ingrediants. Bacon mushroom pizza and mushrooms are canned. Sat night order and its in a grocery store so they can’t have run out …….? Side salad tomatoes were bad and green peppers soft and wrinkled. Very sad someone needs to do quality control.
A trip to Maine without a trip to Amato’s…never!. It wouldn’t be a trip to Maine if we didn’t stop at an Amato’s and have an Italian. Nothing beats that soft white bread, with ham, American cheese, pickles, green peppers, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oil. Yes, I know I left out the onions and olives, that was intentional. My husband had one with all the fixin’s. And the chicken wrap was pretty good also!
Hmmm, we finally disagree???. Randy & I agree on almost everything so far, but here’s one where we’ve had different experiences…I’ve used it for the same reason, it’s on the way home from work. Usually order the same sandwich as he, Double Real Italian, and also the Chicken Salad. Both are almost always prepared perfectly, and have not had any issues with mistakes on the order. Have probably stopped here 10 or 12 times so far, and have had no problems.
Watch out!. Six month ago I would stop here on my way home from work. Food was great and prepared exactly as it was 20 years ago in Portland. Super subs, especially the double meat real Italian.Starting in July, 2009, it’s a challenge. Orders are wrong (I’ve gotten the wrong sandwich twice!), preparation is wrong (asked for their standard – mayo – on two steak subs tonight but no mayo on either and also asked for oil on the side on a double real meat italian but didn’t get it), and counter service is brain-dead (my wife took the slip to pay at the ‘other counter’ but when I came back, slip in hand and only two people waiting with slips, they couldn’t figure out that I was that second order just sitting on the counter and totally ignored me).I LOVE Amato’s food but I’m not going to bother with stopping here any longer despite the fact that it’s perfectly situated on my way home and I can get my lottery tickets there as well. Such a disappointment.
