Many years ago. Way back in the late 1980’s I was driving my truck from teaching in Bangor on my way to the hills of Jackson Maine next to Dixmont…the winds and visibility was so scarry. Your staff were so wonderful…let me relax…and have a cup of tea.
Great Experience. The food is great. It’s worth the wait if it’s busy. Definitely a must -stop in Maine!
Comfort food. Dysart’s is great if you’re looking for comfort food, especially for breakfast. I think their baked goods are the best part! The atmosphere is super casual and it’s nice to have a restaurant open 24 hours that isn’t Denny’s.
Ringing in the new year!. Arrived on New Years day for the first meal of 2011 and Dysart’s did not disappoint! Beginning with coffee and a large, warm cinnamon bun our meal could only get better. The restaurant was not crowded and, even for 9am on a Saturday, our orders were taken promptly and our food arrived quickly. The baked beans have never been bad and were punctuated with a slight taste of black pepper. The omelet, 2 eggs with swiss, onions, green pepper and tomato, was delicious and fully cooked. Capped off breakfast by purchasing a Dysart’s coffee mug. A great meal to begin the 2011!Only downside-we wanted to buy a Dysart’s recipe book but they were sold out. Suggested going on-line to order the book.
Go where the Truckers go!. I grew up in the Bangor area and always have the fondest memories from Dysarts! Great great food, and friendly people. I love that it is a family run business so there is definitely a community feel. Everything is homemade and the menu offers a lot more than just comfort food. They have super fresh seafood, breakfast all the time, and healthy options too. Definitely more than what you think of as a truck stop.Whenever I am back in town out whole gang goes to Dysarts. Sometimes we even go just to get dessert!
This is a Breakfast stop, not a truckstop!. ***Brando approved breakfast*****(Lunch and dinner is ok)**I travel all over the US with my job, so trying new places is something I’ve really come to love!Ok, The wait staff is a huge hit or miss. The first trip: I got an amazing older woman who’s name sadly escapes me, but the second time I got a girl named Heather that was obviously not happy working here. I talk to everyone and crack jokes often, because when I’m on the road, I don’t get a chance to talk very often, so this is one of my only opportunities for human interaction. The third time we got the Awesome Katie!!! I can’t say enough about her. She prooves that waiting on people is an art, that not all people can execute. The first trip: I had their homemade corned beef hash, with eggs over easy and some Freakin Huge pancakes! I had no idea they would be that huge! Anyway, the whole experience was Great! This is home made hash, not out of a can, so some may not like it. However, I loved it!Second trip: Heather was very indirectly rude and obviously ready for us to eat and leave! It was a minute long debate to get her to bring me some tobasco sauce for some reason. She just really brought me down the rest of the day. I ordered the buffalo char-grilled chicken sandwich with home made onion rings. Everything was bland, and the rings were terrible. This trip was the complete opposite of the first.Third trip: KATIE RULEZ!!!! I ordered the same breakfast as the first time, because it was so good, and once again, it was great with too much to finish. Since then, I’ve had a burger(good), curley fries(ok), Bisquits and sausage(great), buffalo wings (too expensive, but pretty good), home made peanut butter cookies(Freakin Good), home made peanut butter no-bake cookies(not so good as they are rich), and a brownie(you can’t screw up a home made brownie! It’s gooood!). Oh and the coffee wasn’t bad either.Once again, Brando approved!Ask to sit in Katie’s section
50/50. LOVE that they are open all hours of the night! My boyfriend is obsessed. Me., however, was excited that they had healthy choices, but the choices ended up falling way short of my expectations. And Their omelets are strange, thin egg wrapped in WAY too much filling. Ew. Watery too. But, despite the food, bf loves it, open late, EXCELLENT SERVICE… im a frequent customer!
