It is the best breakfast in Portland. I have no idea how this site has it rated at 3.9 stars. I would recommend it to anybody. The specials are always amazing and the huevos rancharos is incredible.
Ohhhh boy! That’s a spicy Jambalya and it’s soooooo good!!! Definitely get it with crawfish. The beams and rice are spot on authentic with plenty of tender ham throughout. Don’t miss the cornbread – ante up the extra charge for the jalapeo cheddar (they had pumpkin as a special and I wish I would have gotten that to try it). Looking forward to returning.
Spicy eggs & andouille sausage were fabulous. Orange whip pancakes were different, in a good way. Cornbread is grilled, don’t miss it. Servers were friendly & it’s obvious they like working at the Bayou Kitchen. This is a great find off the beaten path, and be sure to check out the Big Sky Bakery in the same block (their granola is the best!).
Great spot to get breakfast or lunch, both are great don’t forget to try the cornbread.
Great little spot! Food excellent… Highly recommended.
Cajun in New England. Relatively authentic Cajun food in New England, fantastic. The Cajun eggs with andoullie and crawfish were excellent. A supreme find.
Fantastic. Am I really the first person to review the Bayou Kitchen? This place is incredible. Best breakfast in Portland (Becky’s is for tourists). Only cajun food (except maybe Beale Street). Only place to get huevos rancheros. Small, unpretentious, delicious. I’m so proud that a place this cool exists in Maine.
