A cozy place to get a great cup of Java!. This is one of the best coffee spots in Portland, Maine. The proprietors are really nice and friendly, and they have a bunch of coffee drinks that are fabulous, the Cafe Dulce being my very favorite. They also have an array of pastries from local bakeries ranging from The Holy Donut to Bam Bam Bakery (which is a gluten-free bakery in town). They have comfortable seating, good music on, and it’s very convenient to get to.
The owners and employees at Black Cat are wonderful. The coffee they use (Matts) is about the best I have ever had. I get an Americano there every morning and it is consistantly perfect. If you like good coffee and friendly people, this is definately the coffee shop to visit!
I have not been happy with the service at this cafe. I met a group of people there and one of us was told that no outside food or drink was allowed. We all had bought something, and there was no sign about that on the door. The people at the register weren’t friendly and seem way too uptight.
