Clam strip basket in a fast food type location and environment for $18.95? A very small cup of watery clam chowder for $5.95? No thank you. I can’t figure out why this place is so well reviewed. It seems like a real ripoff.
So excited that Bobs has a new spot in Portland. Love, love, love the fried clams. So happy they the new spot is within walking distance of the Casco Bay Ferry!

Like many fried clam fans, we have always enjoyed Bob’s Clam Hut in Kittery. We’re happy they opened a branch in Portland, Although parking can be a problem, the menu, food and service are comparable and delicious.
A little basic restaurant with picnic tables outside and seating inside. The fried clams were good and the lobster was fresh. Four stars only because it was pricey for what you got compared with other places we visited.
My wife and I shared and could barely finished a delicious, succulent quart of perfectly cooked Ipswich whole belly clams. Why anyone would settle for clam strips is beyond me. Bob’s is very clean with friendly service. Good beer & cider choices too.
