As I’m on a mission to eat my way through Portland (and the kids were with me) I decided this was the place tonight 🙂 Think Cheers for the Portland set…a wonderful neighborhood family place that literally seemed like everybody knew everyone and everything is handmade. The pizza with caramelized onions and handmade sausage was absolutely delicious (and I’m not a sausage fanatic). The crust was thin (but not too thin) and perfectly crisp. We also had the onion soup with a deep, rich beef broth, crusty croutons and melts cheese on top. If I lived in this neighborhood I can be certain I’d be on a first name basis with everyone here. 🙂

Bonobo’s makes THE best pizza in Portland. The plain margarita pizza is to die for. Their Monday deal is great. My wife and I bring my 90 year old mother there and she says it is the best pizza ever. Very nice sauce, just enough cheese, nicely spiced and an excellent fresh thin crispy crust. We love the atmosphere and beer and wine selections, too.
Too much smoke for a congested urban neighborhood!. There’s too much smoke for my health & hearth, not to mention my heart & lungs, being emitted into the local neighborhood by Bonobo’s Pizza. If, as there is, a City ordinance against the burning of leaves how then can we daily burn trees in our urban ghetto for the cooking of pizza? Pass the albuteral please; I can’t sleep for gasping for air. Seriously, wrong location & wrong fuel: this should’ve never been allowed to open.
Atmosphere kitschy classy for a pizza joint; bar looked better. Pizza’s read better on the menu than they came to the table, primarily because of the hard-baked crust. The toppings, on the other hand, were good. Ask for salad dressings on the side, if you don’t like your lettuce drenched. Tasty, but overdone.
Perfect place for a great meal. On the outside, Bonobo’s doesn’t look like all that much. But on the inside it’s a warm, friendly restaurant with pleasant staff and good food. I ended up sharing a pizza with my wife and got half margarita and half goat cheese, both of which were delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and always made sure that we were taken care of. Highly recommended if you’re in town.
The food is good but the angry hipster employees (it was a hostess in my case who was particularly offensive) are the reason I’ve only been there once.
