Service was bad. Waited to long to get menus and drink orders. Once we ordered, we awaited over an hour for our food to come out. My steak was really good, but the mountain of fries that came with it were all burnt. My boyfriends Fish and Chips were okay. Fish was average, nothing special and only got about 6 chips to go along with his overly breaded fish. Overall, not worth the price.
Boone’s had very sandy mussels. I do not usually mind a little sand in the pot but there was such a large amount it ground my teeth enough to notice something wasn’t right. For being so pricey I expected more.
The clam chowder had good taste and lots of clams but they were chewy. The Seafood Newburg was very bland and the bread was burned.
Horrible. Yesterday was my third time at boone’s and it will be the last. there were five of us and not even the over cooked popovers were good.the steak & frites looked like dog droppings and tasted worse. we had halibut, lobster pie, oyesters, and fried clams.we all gave it a thumbs down.
Poor experience. Horrible service, equally horrible food. DO NOT dine here. Too many other restaurants to choose from in Portland with great food and service.
Reviews should be so much better. What amazing meals my wife and I had. Professionally trained as a chef and having worked in five star hotels and seafood specialty restaurants I am not easy to please. Our service was great! When you make it by the young hostess who doesn’t go out of her way to make you feel welcome and finally get a table, be prepared for some attention to details and some amazingly fresh and well executed meals. Our two visits with in the same week were nothing short of exquisite! The drawn butter for lobster dishes is served in a stand with a candlelight underneath keeping the butter hot. I had a baked stuffed lobster and although I thought it may have been a bit pricey at first after eating it and the full one pound of additional seafood stuffed on top I can say it was a good value. The second time we went the fresh pan seared halibut with beurre blanc lemon butter sauce., bacon risotto and sauteed-brussels-sprouts were outstanding, Frequently eating out in the Old Port, this restaurant was only chosen due to a Livingsocial deal. Since dining there twice we have purchased 3 more vouchers. The restaurant isn’t with out faults. The fireplace leaves a very wood smokey smell on your clothes and the not heated down stairs bathrooms have much to be desired. If your really looking for a great selection of fresh seafood and want it prepared by excellent chefs this is a must place to visit.
Indigestion. The whole belly clams were small both in individual clams and portion dry and not one belly to be found in the entire pint. The octopus tasted like ammonia and was soggy. The tile fish was ok but sat in some brow stuff that had an over powering vinigar taste. Worst dinning experience ever. Waisted $200 and a night out.
