My favorite restaurant. Simple, delicious flavors, executed perfectly everytime. Truffle ketchup, duckfat fries and pressed crunchy panini’s. The citrus donuts are mind blowing.
I don’t know much about poutine yet it this was pure deliciousness. It was balanced deliciousness, with savory and salty. The environment was cool inside and the menu was pretty simple. Basically go there for the poutine ad possible the specials and drinks.Update: after trying multiple poutine places in the last year I would say this was my favorite.
Liked it till now.. Raved about how great it was, and even sent my friends there. It’s very sad that Duckfat Chef/OWNER Rob Evans would hire such low class rude and sarcastic wait staff that turned you away from the restaurant and make you loose an appetite instantly (I guess its great when you want to go on the diet!), my husband and I were treated horribly by girl name Robin with the nice smile on her face. While my husband was crossing the street, she gave seating for two away to the people who walked in a few min after me and smiled while saying, now you have to wait 30 minutes. Then while waiting, we were told to go wait in the rain because we were a fire hazard. The manager stuck up for her and never apologized to us. This is after years of patronage, maybe we are not hipster enough.I guess Mother’s Day was not our day at Duckfat.. May I recommend to visit Hot Suppa Restaurant where there s always excellent service and great people!
Stopped in based on a recommendation from a local. Had a local beer from Portland. Ordered the small Poutine with confit and an egg. Best fries I’ve EVER had. Highly recommend. The brussel sprouts looked great but saving room for Lobster elsewhere.
We ate here 3 times, partly because it was so good and partly because it was impossible to get into other places. The fries are fried in duck fat (duh) and are a meal all by themselves. They are fantastic – crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, perfectly pre-salted. I favor the curry mayo among the mayo choices. The blueberry shake is sublime, and the duckfat caramel shake, aside from being over-the-top rich, is delicious. Of the panini, I think the Cubano is best. Each time, I only ate half a sandwich. The fried citrus donut holes with duck fat caramel dipping sauce are also wonderful. You can’t make a reservation. Sometimes the wait is as long as an hour, sometimes just 15-20 min. They give you a beeper with a range of about a block and a half and you have to wait outside because it’s too jammed inside. I don’t know what they do when it’s raining or cold outside. Service is capable and friendly and accommodating. A must visit. theglobetrotterfoodie.wordpress.com
This is little bit of a late review but during memorial weekend we were passing through Portland and decided to go to Duckfat and of course it was packed as soon as it opened . We got there 15 mins after they opened and there already was 45 min wait to get a seat. When we finally did get a seat we were a bit skeptical if it would live up to the hype. The short answer is yes. The fries were amazing, the sandwiches were tasty but not too big and the donut holes were a must. My only advice is if don’t want to wait try to come 15 mins before it opens since during peaks season it will always be busy.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin. All I can say is that the Poutine fries (with egg) are seriously the most amazing French fries I’ve ever had. These will haunt me for years to come and I know it. This is a must-go restaurant!
