Best Calamari our family has ever had! Great meal and very kid friendly.

Very tasty and worth every penny. Food did come out fast – but last like some previous posts stated, but never felt rushed. My roll was ginormous! and wonderful- pork belly! A+++ This is a great all around joint without the high end pretension I would chose this place over the others in portland every time

Mediocre. Although a mainstay for years in Portland: the food is only mediocre compared to what is available just a few blocks away. Portland has a handful of world class sushi restaurants and this is not one of them. We have noticed at our last few visits that the service has ‘slumped’. One feels rushed to enjoy a cuisine that is meant to be savored. Fuji has and can do better….

Not a good choice. We hadn’t been here in a while and I have to say, it’s not as good as I remembered. We ate downstairs at the hibachi tables. After the waitress took our orders, we hardly saw her. Our salads were delivered and with only chopsticks on the table, some of us sat there while we tried to get someone’s attention so we could have some silverware…which took a while, even though it was a weeknight. The salad was ordinary and the dressing was unappealing. The chef came out and started our food, but he seemed to be confused somewhat at what the waitress had written. Then he appeared to be having problems with the cooking surface as he continually had to attend to the controls underneath. There were several different orders, from chicken to steak to salmon. Afterwards, everyone agreed that the food could have used some seasoning. The sauces provided were also lacking in flavor. We were almost finished eating when the chef asked if there was anything else and I noted that those of us who had ordered white rice w/our meals hadn’t gotten it. He shook his head and looked disgusted and proceeded to yell at the waitstaff. I can’t say that after this experience, I’ll want to go back anytime soon. There are too many other good restaurants in Portland to settle for this.

The food was fantastic but we felt like we were rushed. Bowls and dishes where flung out like playing cards and not collected when done. The sushi was very flavourful and the chef entertaining. We just wished they paced it better.

    SAKE!. Love the atmosphere!

Nice value for lunch. I’ve been pleased with the bento box, which is savory and filling. The small salad seems a little off-pitch sometimes, but the other portions are satisfyingly on target. The lunch prices are quite a bit cheaper than dinner for what seem to be identical portions.
