Now called Hella’ Good Tacos. I had the burrito plate with Carne Asada. It was a good burrito! I don’t make it up here to Portland very often, but will stop by here again next time.
Delicious Food. I love the food at Steve and Renee’s. The new owners have added Mexican food to their menu, which is this native Texas girl’s dream come true. The tacos – amazing. The tamales – even better. The salsa bar is fresh and wonderful. My kids love the breakfast menu and the tacos. Mmmm…getting hungry thinking about it. Think I’ll head over now.
Not overly impressed. Ordered the corn beef hash, which was clearly from a can. Hash browns were barely fried, more steamed. Pancakes were good, huge and took up a whole plate. We ordered a Pepsi, came to us in a bottle, no asking if we wanted a cup or anything. Service was subpar, unless you were a regular. Was hoping for a bit better breakfast experience.
Wonderful little diner, food is excellent . Servers always friendly. Wife and me usually start our weekends off with breakfast there at least every other week.
Never will go here again. Went in on a Sunday, I guess it was about a hour before they closed. It was around noon or 1:00 so I was very surprised that they close so early on a weekend. Waitress was horribly rude and made the very obvious that she could care less about getting our business. When one of us tried to order a hamburger she was even more bitter informing us that they did not serve that menu on Sundays. We just got up and left, none of us will ever go back.
It’s ok. I don’t hate Steve and Renee’s but there’s just not a whole lot to like about it. It definitely caters to an older crowd who grew up on meat and potatoes. The food is rather bland and overpriced for what it is. I usually come away feeling as though I paid way too much for something I could have made tastier at home. The waitstaff are great and everyone who works there seems very friendly. When you walk in the place is always packed but usually it’s all gray hair in the crowd. The only reason to choose this place over any of Portland’s many other diners is if you happen to be in the neighborhood and are pressed for time.
My wife and I especially like the fact thay they serve veggie (soy) sausage and bacon as well as traditional ones. Very friendly folks in a good neighborhood setting.
