Visiting fro RI: JPs 3/20/2015. We had a wonderful time and meal at JPs. Everything was PERFECT – service was top-notch. Dessert was to die for! So nice to have a good experience in Portland. Would recommend 110%!
I read all of the great reviews and, despite no online menu, gave this place a try. It’s far from downtown so parking wasn’t too much of an issue. I made a reservation at 7, arrived on time, and despite the crowd at the door, was seated immediately at a cozy table by the window. Our server was very attentive and explained the dozen or so specials on the board. The food is mostly italian with a good amount of seafood and bone-in meats. He brought a petite loaf of fresh warm bread with a side of garlic butter. My wife ordered a specialty cocktail, which was huge and delightfully strong. I checked out the wine list, and found a decent Sauvignon blanc. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms. These came out in short time and were quite delicious…topped with garlic butter. I ordered the special seared scallops but asked to substitute the starch with the risotto from another scallop dish…not a problem. My wife ordered a prosciutto-stuffed bone-in pork chop served with a portabella Demi-glace. A bit salty and heavy for my taste, but she loved it. Mashed potato and all veggies were covered again with garlic butter. I give the food an 8 out of 10, the service a 10 and the ambiance a 7, only because it is very tight and noisy, but we didn’t mind, given we had a window beside us. We would return and recommend this place to friends.
Good neighborhood location. Not vegetarian friendly, very meat focused menu.
Absolutely fantastic! Made reservations (very important). Table was ready. Perfect service. Amazing food! A phenomenal experience!
Literally found my new favorite restaurant tonight. The short rib appetizer amazing. The sweet potatoe halepenjo soup has a good kick to it but soooo good. And then the ribeye was like I had died and gone to heaven. Had a sweet taste to the sauce that made the mash and vegetables unreal. Def going again
Very good but can be noisy. We went to JP’s Bistro several week ago because our daughter raved about it. The food was great and the service was very good. Our only complaint was the noise level. It was packed and it was very noisy. I guess this is the downside of being a popular restaurant! Would recommend reservations-we went on a tuesday and almost didn’t get a table.
Top notch. I have been several times, each time better than than before.one of the best bistro’s in portland aroundhighly recommended
