The wife and I went on a Friday nite and was surprised how few people were there. It took about ten minutes for the waiter to show up. When he finally arrived to greet us, he came with a water picture that didn’t have enough to fill my glass. We both ordered drinks on the rocks. Mine came without the rocks. I sent it back and thought it would come right back. It took about ten minutes. We had ordered the antipasto for two and it was large enough with lots of meats, cheese, and veggies, but very little dressings. Should have been given on the side. The waiter came a little late with the bread, and said he had waited for it to be warmed. Which we found a little odd because it was refrigerator cold. I had to warm it over the candle on the table. We had both ordered the veal parmigiana. The veal was very tender and fresh but their sauce was not to great. The waiter never came back to check on us. Over all very disappointing.

We were sadly disappointed in Maria’s. I really hoped for a better experience. The place smells bad, maybe old carpeting I don’t know. The decor is old and tired. Hearing Ave Maria for dinner music just doesn’t work. The place is depressing! The food was tasteless, I had the special fettucini Alfredo with lobster, shrimp and asparagus. Four shrimp, maybe the meat from half a small lobster and the sauce tasted exactly like jarred sauce. This cost over $20. I really wanted to like this place. But do not recommend if.
Recently, my girlfriend and I went to Maria’s on a busy Thursday evening. While waiting in the lounge for a table and had an awesome peach bellini. We then moved to the dining room in a classic Italian atmosphere. It was a refreshing change to the Portland dining scene! Their meatball appetizer was one of the best I’ve ever had. The eggplant parmesan and shrimp gregorio all were outstanding! For dessert, the Maria’s canoli is a must have, and dont forget the strawberry and lemoncello gelato. The European waiter was a blast and our experience was fantastic so wwanted to share this info with you.
Fabulous!. The food at Maria’s is wonderful! I have eaten there many times and have never had a dish that did not exceed my expectations. The atmosphere is very comfortable, but also has a sense of elegance. The service is always exceptional. One of my favorite restaurants in Portland!
Excellent. Great dining experience with old world ambiance. The haddock with grab stuffing is excellent and the chocolate fudge cake desert is without equal. ( 5 stars)
Portland’s Finest…. Maria’s Restaurant is the best Itailan Restaurant in the New England area. Not only is the food homemade and tastes as if it were made in Italy but the traditional Italian atmosphere makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. The Napolitano family takes great pride in their Italian heritage which is demonstrated by their delicious food and authentic Italian restaurant.
