Awful breakfast. I should have known something was amiss when there was a 45 minute wait at Hot Suppah and Bintliff’s, a line out the door at Holy Donuts, but ample seating at Miss Portland Diner on a Saturday morning. The home fries were just terrible, not fried at all, but obviously boiled and then seasoned heavily (and badly). The egg also looked more poached than fried. The English muffin was grilled in a thick, sickening smelling coat of imitation butter. The only upside is that breakfast for two costs $15.
Great food, pleasant surroundings, fine staff. We live approximately 2 hours north of Portland, in Hampden. We took a day trip to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods and stopped at the Miss Portland Diner for lunch prior to shopping. There were four of us, and we were seated right away in a very inviting dining area, lots of daylight, clean and roomy. I ordered one of the days specials, shrimp salad, my wife and her sister ordered the full bellied clams and my son ordered breakfast. The meal was tasty, and the wait staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My wife and her sister, both native Mainers, said the clams were among the best they’ve had. I had a cup of coffee that was very good, and I’m picky about my coffee. The cost of the meal was very reasonable. I would recommend the Miss Portland Diner to anyone.
Food service was really slow and tasted marginal. Waitress was trying
Take-Out Problem. I ordered take-out over the phone. The server Suzie told me that it would take 20 minutes since the restaurant was busy. After showing up to pay for my pot roast, Suzie told me that it would be an additional 20 minutes and that she was sorry. 40 minutes? I was offered a soup and muffin…I cancelled my order and that was it.
Good food, terrible atmosphere. I was there two nights ago with high school friends. The food was good as was the service, but the loud background music was very irritating. I asked that it be turned down and it was, but later, someone turned it back up. I really prefer quiet restaurants and if background music is the norm for Miss Portland Diner, I won’t go back.
Perfect. Fell in love with Miss Portland Diner-yes not nouveau food, but great sit down spot with good comfort food and the waitstaff was spot on, would say it would be a nice late night/weekend lunch spot
Best diner. Ever since new management the food and service is great. i especially like their ruben and have great burgers. i suggest anybody with bad experiences give it another go. by far my favorite diner
