Went for the first time for lunch. Had the lobster roll with aioli and some butter on the side. VERY good. Sat outside in the crisp sunny fall weather overlooking the water. Life was good. Will definitely be returning.

Had the 2 lobsters for cheap. Split with the wife. $5 plate charge. Good service. Lobsters were good. Nice draft beer selection of local beers

Completely in love with the corn beef hash….. customer service is always great. Great people to get along with. Love the chill back on the water atmosphere

I should start this review by disclosing that I’ve ever only eaten 2 lobster rolls in my life. I came here for dinner, after visiting the lobster co. for lunch, to answer the age old question of who’s lobster roll is better. I have to give porthole a slight edge for my favorite lobster roll. The bun was much more substantial and the portion of lobster meat was bigger. I got mine with the lemon aoli (recommended by Nicole Lynn) and would definitely recommend the same thing to anybody else! The fries were delicious too, which seems to be the norm up here in Portland. The food went great paired with the shipyard monkey’s fist. Eating out on the dock was a nice touch as wellAshley Simone did not enjoy her crab cakes very much, but you should check out her review of the lobster co. if you’re a crab cake person

Great setting. Great fried goodness and beers. Exactly what you expect from a joint on the warf and the smell is the ocean all over. The price however may deter some.

The only time I visited Portland, I was taken to the Porthole Restaurant & Pub after a lot of pub hopping and beer, wine, gin, and mead tasting. And I was itching to have some of Maine’s famed lobster. We got to the pub a little late in the afternoon, and the weather quite nice and we decided to sit outside, which also overlooked the ocean, and had fishing boats docked by the side. No sooner had we finished placing our order did the weather decide to take a sharp turn towards the lower end of the thermometer. There was quite a nip in the air, and it helped that a friend of mine e worked part time here – she was able to make some good recommendations to us.Of course we ordered the lobster; in fact, we ordered two. One for me, and the other one was shared between three others 🙂 We also ordered a lobster roll, and a portion of chicken wings. The wings were good to nibble on, and really, these were mainly for a friend who is allergic to crustaceans. The lobster roll was bloody brilliant! Sweet and creamy, it was an awesome roll filled with a LOT of lobster meat – they really meant business. And then there was the lobster itself. Words won’t do justice to how amazing it was. It was, everything, that a good lobster is made out to be. Simply amazing! If you want to enjoy a good lobster with a nice view, this is one of those places for sure! gastronomicalgspot.blogspot.com

STAY AWAY! Horrible food, service and management! Used to eat there a few years ago until it was closed down for numerous health code violations….RATS! Thought we would give it a try again to support our local businesses…..The owner screamed at us after his incompetent waiter screwed up everything he possibly could. We just wanted them to take a charge off for beer that we never received! Really bad customer service and attitude! The good news is they won’t be in business long and will feel the wrath of social media……so many people I know in town won’t ever go to that place again…..good news is that there are SO MANY OTHER way better places to go in Portland! STAY AWAY!
