This off the beaten path restaurant serves consistently super delicious and completely filling German food at very reasonable prices. Steffi (surely Maines most charming restaurant owner) is often on hand to welcome guests and answer questions in an adorable German accent. This is a Portland gem – dont tell anyone!
A hidden gem in a great foodie city. Eight tables and you are likely to be served by the owner; her husband is the chef. We went for brunch. We had the spaetzle and corn beef hash with lightly pickled beets and potato pancakes with latkes. Authentic German cuisine is hard to come by and this was fresh and full of flavor. A pure joy coming here.
German restaurant in Portland that should not be missed. I’ve been here for breakfast several times and usually opt for the breakfast plate with a selection of cheese and meats. In typical German fashion, you can even have a brat for breakfast. Service is great. krismlars.com
