This is by far my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the Portland area, and I have eaten at most of them. The crispy tacos are amazing and their salsa verde is superb. I got a shrimp taco and a carne asada taco and can’t decide which was better. My wife got the chicken enchiladas: smoky, chipotle deliciousness. Do yourself a favor and eat here if you like a unique take on traditional American-Mexican fare.
One of my favorite places in Portland. Great spot for late night taco cravings. Cool vibe inside with a mix of old school hip hop music. service is great and awesome taco menu!
Best Shredded Beef EVER. Their bistek is amazingly lean, juicy and flavorful and is largely responsible for their burritos being the best I’ve ever had. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve ordered here.
Awesome food and great atmosphere!. We come here all the time, one of our favorite spots. Their shrimp puffy tacos are my go-to, but sometimes when I want something a little lighter I opt for the nachos as my meal. I love their salsa, and during happy hour it’s free which is even better, pair that with a margarita and it’s golden. I really like the cozy and bright atmosphere, the chili pepper lights covering the ceiling are an awesome touch! Plus they have local art decorating their walls.
Nothing great or special. Ate here the other night (2/12/14) with relatives. Nothing special. Prices are reasonable, service was average at best. The food was OK but none of us felt that the food was outstanding or anything special. Menu is interesting – but limited in my opinion for a Mexican place. We arrived during Happy Hour – they really didn’t have that many offerings for drinks on special either. We ordered 4 margarita’s, and that was over half of the total bill. Decor and atmosphere were OK. Biggest negative – when we enterered restaurant we were greeted with a strong pungent stench of what smelled like car antifreeze. We assumed it was whatever they were using to wipe tables or clean floors? It was awful. I can’t give this place a thumbs up – was not a totally poor meal/experience – but was not great either…..
I have never written a review for a restaurant but I felt the need to after slow service and poor food quality. The poor waitress seemed to be the only person working the entire place so needless to say service was incredibly slow. The tacos tasted exactly like a SmartOnes frozen Mexican dish from Weight Watchers. Not bad if you are paying $2.99 for a frozen meal but certainly a disappointment in a Mexican restaurant. Go to El Rayo or dare I say Chipotle instead. Your tummy will thank you.
Great time, great food. At Taco Escobarr, I recently enjoyed one of the best soups of my life…it was a mango gazpacho and I would give a lot to have this recipe, it is tp die for, just exactly right in every way! It was one of the specials on the night I was there, hope it becomes part of the regular menu.
