OUTSTANDING !!!! What else can I say. The rigatoni was fabulous the lobster ravioli excellent. The pizza w sausage and mushrooms the best I’ve ever had. What a pleasure to find a GEM in Portland Maine that is as good as you would find in New York AND Italy! Thank you for an amazing meal and wonderful service.

Valentine’s. I brought my wife here for valentine,s day and we tried the 5 course. What a great choice. They share a kitchen with cinque terre and they didn’t disappoint either. Pricey for sure, but the food is excellent and the building is gorgeous.

Great cocktail spot, so-so on dinner. Vignola has dropped consistently down in my three visits. Atmosphere and location are lovely, but the food preparation is undistinguished and heavy-handed. Drinks are fabulous, however: try the Vigroni – a variation on the Negroni – with gin, sweet vermouth, Aperol, rhubarb bitters, fantastic! Changing daily menu did not inspire. Zucchini fritter apps were a good sized portion, but underseasoned and heavy. Herb-encrusted trout (see pic) was dry and so heavily overseasoned one couldn’t taste fish at all. Served with stone-cold cherry tomatoes on top, which were a jarring disruption, as well as cold couscous. What’s wrong with serving a hot meal? Side of broccolini was buried in red pepper flakes. My companion had a rhubarb tart which she liked very much for dessert. I went for the almond tart and was disappointed – crust was tough, almost institutional, and there was no almond flavor. Could have used a dosing of Amaretto at the very least.

Vignola: Restaurant Week Style. After viewing the menus of several restaurant week participants, Vignola’s menu looked the best, so we decided to try it out. All six of us were thrilled with the experience and the food we had at Vignola. For starters we noticed the most perfect sounding gourmet pizza on the menu, the Vignola pizza – simple and so good. Because there were so many of us, we all got to try a little bit of everything from the restaurant week menu. For starters we had delicious penne with house made lamb pancetta and a tomato ragu, which was amazing. The taste of the lamb really came through and the pasta was cooked perfectly. We also tried the beef carpaccio served with greens, capers, grilled provolone, and a garlic vinaigrette. This dish was also very good with a nice fresh taste. For the second course we had pork milanese with baby spinach, sun dried tomato and grilled red onions with balsamic reduction. This dish was completely perfect and tasted so good. The other option we tried was a roasted chicken dish that also, was perfect. Then came dessert! For me the best parts of the meal were the first bite of pizza and the end with the wonderful desserts. We enjoyed a chocolate cake, a honey almond tart and a banana cake. All were fantastic and were the perfect end to a really great meal. Based on the taste we had from the restaurant week menu, we will be back and recommend Vignola to anyone looking for a delicious and relaxing Italian meal in Portland

Good Pizza. I had a more gourmet pizza when craving some late carbs. I really liked the atmosphere as it was in the heart of the old port.
