Bad previous experiences. I happened across the review for Purple Cow and it made me think of the couple of times I tried the place. I remember the food being quite good, the price being about average, but the service was terrible. We had an older lady who was waitress for our table and she was very abrupt, she kind of tossed our plates on the table when the food came out, and while my family was leaving she hollered across the restaurant at me making sure I had paid my bill (I had several minutes earlier). Some might argue that maybe she was just having a bad day, but I recall the time prior that I had visited she waited on our table and was very abrupt then, too. I’ll NEVER be back.
Great breakfast! Rest assured that your favorite breakfast place is still very good. Maybe it is best advised to a lid dinner and especially the salads. My son is a student at Colby and he brought us there for Sunday breakfast. Try the onion pancakes. The cheese pancakes were not very cheesy but the onion cakes were different and yummy. I did not visit the bathroom during my visit but the dining room was clean. The service was good.
What happened!?. I hate to hear the awful review! The Purple Cow has gone down hill. 🙁 I spent some time in Skowhegan area a few years back and started my day with breakfast at The Purple Cow every morning for over a week. At that time, it was great! The food was fresh, hot, prepared well, and the service was great!, even though I was an outsider. 🙂 Every day that I showed up, it only got better. The employees knew me by name and greeted me when I came through the door. I was planning to visit the Purple Cow with my family this summer while on vacation, but now I may need to rethink. Too bad. Have really great memories from previous experience. JPW in Texas If someone has a more recent experience and would like to share, please do.
Breakfast or Seafood. We usually go here for their huge breakfast but this past week got the lunch special which was a Maine lobster roll with five fried clams and five fried scallops. Everything was excellent although the french fries were soggy and quite undercooked. I must say I did prefer their old location better than this one, since it always seemed much cleaner.
