I have only gone to Pickett street on off days during off hours, and although my egg and which takes a little longer than most places it’s worth it for hot delicious and fresh made food. My husband loves to try their specials like breakfast tacos, and I’m a big fan of the hippie. Love how such simple items are so tasty. Great, delicious and strong coffee as well.
Woopsies. I want to love 158(Pickett St Cafe), I really do. Its small and funky and the outside area is great in the summer. The tall guy at the front counter is one of the friendliest restaurant people I’ve come across. The bagels are flawless and the menu is fresh and local. Here’s my problem: Every time I’ve gone, regardless of how many people are waiting it takes at least 15 minutes for my bagel sandwich. This past Saturday I went it for 2 sammies. One with sausage, egg, cheese, one- bacon, egg…I waited for 25 minutes and took them to go while holding onto a toddler who’s patience had since left the building. I get home and find that there’s no sausage on my $7 bagel and my husband’s was blah as well. It was busy but so is every other breakfast joint in town on a Saturday. They’ve never messed up my order before but I was already annoyed at having to wait so long …They get style points and nice points in a town that is overrun with moody-hipster servers who are too cool to care about customers. Just don’t be in a hurry if you want to check this place out. I’ll probably still go back to try the pizza though b/c i love pizza.

Now serving pizza in the evenings. And it’s really good!
Great artisan bagles. Salmon/cuke/dill/capers was delicious. Quirky place…worth the drive!
Absolutely Addicted to Cafe 158. Cafe 158 has my pick for top breakfast spot in town. There are not enough superlatives to say how much I enjoy this little hole in the wall. The spot is down right magical, it has been blessed by Gandolf. Cafe 158 has the best coffee in town, the best bagels and the best omellets. The lunch sandwiches are amazing and even the pickles are wonderful if you are lucky enough to get one on your plate. The breads are what make this place and do not have an equal outside of the Standard Bakery in Portland. Josh the onwer has clearly put a lot of thought into every detail of his food. Be prepared to stand in line, know what you want and order fast. This restaurante does come with a bit of an attitude. The place is usually packed and there often is not enough room to sit and eat and make sure you order your jam/ketchup with you meal up front or you are likely not to get any. Their garden in the back of the restaurante is beautiful and if you happen to be lucky enough to get there on a day when you can eat outside do so. Try their bagel and samon combination…with or without the samon. It is an explosion of flavor that will pop in your mouth. The onion, cheese and bacon omelette is my pick for egg dishes. The bacon is extra thick and makes the dish. One disappointment is that they have taken off their club sandwich from the menu which was their best lunch item. They use a variety of breads for their sandwiches and breakfasts…it appears to be whatever the cook happens to be using that day. I have never been dissappointed as they are all wonderful but the cook choses not you. Their baked goodies, cookies and muffins do not match the excellence of their other food but are still very nice. It is worth the hassel of getting out to SMCC and fighting to find a spot to park with all the students to try this spot. It is best not to go during peak hours or on a Sunday morning if it can be avoided. I truly hope this little gem of a restaurante never closes its doors, Beckys you are on notice.
The worlds best smoked salmon bagels. There is Z!
