I saw that someone liked the calamari. Mine was a bowl of grease and crums. When I brought it to attention, the waitress said it was the olive oil drizzle…not. Perhaps I got a bad order. I also ordered the beer batter fried haddock and got a log that was burnt and hard as a rock. I’d say they have an issue with frying food…way overpriced, too. I don’t return food or write in on these but in conversation with a friend learned he had the same experience. We both confirmed not to return for dinner but lunches are okay.
The View and the Calamari!!. The view is arguable the best in the area- When you walk in the just after the stone host station the whole front of the place is WINDOWS. Just beyond is an open deck. I’ve been several times year round and truly amazing regardless of the season or the weather(unless you wanted to sit outside) The menu changes a couple times a year but the perennial favorites remain with each change, The Calamari is the best I’ve ever had it is lighly breaded and fried crisp then tossed in a vinaigrette- Yum! The Carbonara is rich and addictive. They finally brought back their Filet Mignon! Yeah. There is something for everyone on this menu and the service is always just right. I don’t want to be friends with my server but I also don’t want to be ignored.07 Feb, 2013Love the Romesco. If thew view doesn’t take your breath away then the Romesco beef will send you over the top- it is this rich tomato sauce with red peppers, braised boneless shortrib meat and those wide pasta noodles called pappadella. It was so perfect for the cold weather outside. We sat by the fireplace and had a bottle of wine then moved over to our table by the window and watched the snow fall with the lights of Portland in the background. Very Romantic. Loved it
Not spectacular. Broiled scallop and lobster risotto. Scallops broiled perfectly, buerre blanc, awesome, but not enough. risotto was bland and had nothing similar to lobster included, tasted like the arborio was simmered with low salt tomato juice. green beans were cooked well but were slightly past fresh. all in all a pleasant experience, but the food was sub-par, and not deserving of the asking price.
Food was ok… Pricey for what it is with the exception of the salad which was outstanding! Service felt rushed and the waiter seemed not to care if we were there or not. No offer of dessert, coffee, or another drink. His loss…. Probably won’t return….too many great places without having to put up with just ok food and poor service
I won’t go again. I can cook better than them.25 Dec, 2009Nice view other Portland but you pay for it. way too expensive for the quality. Service is good
Great view, bad food. Like Joe’s Boathouse this restaurant has a great view–which is why people come back–because the food is always iffy. Even basic menu items are inconsistent. Stay away from the pastas which are always overblown. Stay simple in ordering and hope someone won’t over cook the fish.
Love the baked scallops. And love the view A+
