Amazing salmon. We have gone to the Snow Squall now five times and it has become one of our favorites for my wife and my Date Night outings. We have both tried several of their daily specials, but our all time favorite is their Salmon Salad. The salad greens are crisp and fresh, the salmon is cooked exactly right – not too well done – not all dried out, however not under-cooked either. The marinade they use balances perfectly with the fresh salmon and the salad greens as well. Really is a delightful, tasty meal. They also have a very good selection of beers on tap as well as some uniquely different mixed drinks. So you can easily find a companion drink for your meal, regardless of what your mode might be at that moment. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the wait staff, who are friendly the first time that you eat there, will quickly get to recognize you as a repeat customer and truly strike up a relationship with you on your repeat visits (even to the point where a particular waitress who had our table on our first three visits, came up to say hello to us on a night when she didn’t have our table on her list to cover – just to find out how we were doing. Service that friendly doesn’t happen at most establishments and is truly refreshing to experience.Definitely a place that you should try in the South Portland area.

Price isn’t everything – overall, a disappointment. I agree with some of the other comments about the Snow Squall, especially regarding price. Food is definately overpriced, but good. It would not be an issue if the atmosphere was upscale, but the feeling I always get when going to enjoy a meal on Sunday afternoon or late afternoon (before the dinner crowd arrives) is that I’m walking into a private event. Wait staff will converse with you and go out of their way for you if you’re part of the regular crowd, but otherwise you will get perfunctory service. On the plus side, the food is awesome, and I have enjoyed some wonderful meals there.

Snow Squall is our new favorite restaurant. The food is always delicious & staff great. Never had a bad dish or cocktail after eating there at least 6 times. Some of the best nachos around. Great happy hour as well.

Folks listen up my wife and I were trying to decide a great spot for dinner on our recent date night (no kids over nite, more in a minute). Did not feel like dealing with parking in old port. So we went to Snow squa. Boy were we loving this place. My wife had Mussel (I only like her to have those for one reason) I had buttermilk extra crispy fried chicken. Excellent! My wife and I were just in aw! My parents from the south. This chicken hands down top 3 I’ve had in a long time. Try it out.

Really bad, and no view. Except for David’s on Cottage Road, South Portland really doesn’t have a decent high-end restaurant, and the new Snow Squall joins Joe’s Boathouse and Salt Water Grille in being disappointing and expensive. At least at Joe’s and SWG you get a nice view and decent service. After four lunches at Snow Squall I didn’t find either good food or service. And the view of the parking lot didn’t do a lot for my mood either. Maybe David’s expansion will fill the void, but there really seems to be a customer base for high-end food in South Portland (thanks to our Cape Elizabeth neighbors), that also tastes like high-end food. This restaurant isnt’ it.
