I had dinner here a while ago while In town on business. It’s a relatively large pub on a small side street just off the main drag in the downtown area, and is situated alongside several competing establishments.Inside is your typical pub-like atmosphere- low lighting, darker woods, country type feel. There was both a smaller seating area adjacent to the bar (where I sat), and a larger dining room on the opposite side of the wall. It’s comfortable enough but won’t blow you away. The food selection was reasonable, and the servers were friendly without being obtrusive; the service was good, not great, as was wait times from the kitchen. The food was served hot and fresh; I had a fish special and it was excellent. The place also maintains a decent beer selection on tap including a small number of local brews, which scores extra marks for me. The prices were fairly reasonable- a little over $40 tip and bar in – not huge value but certainly not a ripoff. I enjoyed it and would happily return here in the future.

Not a vegetarian Resturant.. The Last Unicorn is NOT a vegetarian or organic only Resturant. Vegetarians will enjoy a few plates but the menu covers seafood, steaks, and fish. Meat lovers will not be disappointed. Vegetarians might be.29 Sep, 2012Reopened. Very happy to announce that the restaurant has reopened and is back in the business of providing an excellent dinning experience. The Famous Cheese Dip appetizer is one of the best appetizers in Waterville. The chef [Fred] and his wife have undertaken the challenge of reopening a Waterville icon. And I was not disappointed. Returning there to dine after a summer of no Unicorn felt like going back home. Delicious menu with specials that will make your mouth water. Like Cajun Catfish, or Coquille St. Jacque.
Delicious! As soon as I saw the James Beard quote on the board I knew the food would be fantastic. Thy specialize in whole made delicious ingredients and food. I started with The Lobster Ale local brew and salad with the hunan dressing. Spicy and delicious. You CAN buy their dressings and sauces. I had a special entree for Wed. Veggie stir fry with vegetables over Israeli couscous. Fantastic. I had a side of basmati rice. A slice of bread came with the salad and tasted freshly made on-site. No room for dessert but the options that were specials sounded great as well as the soups. Dont be fooled by their outdated website. The menu is so muh larger than what is online. I am vegetarian and there was A LOT of options. This will be my go to restaurant for Waterville Maine. I sat at their quaint bar since solo on business. The staff is great too!
Last Unicorn. Always delicious! If you are a cheese lover, try their famous cheese dip. Served with two big pieces of baguette, it is seriously an appetizer you won’t regret.
Best in Waterville. I’ve eaten hear many times as I live in Waterville. By far the best restaurant around. Chef inspired menu, prepared to order meals that are perfectly cooked every time. Thursday is Mexican night. One of my all time favorite places!
