Could have been good…. My boyfriend and I ate here last night. I was craving good french food and convinced him to give it a try. We did the early Prix-Fix menu. I ordered the soup du jour, beef bourguignon, and the creme caramel. He ordered the country pate, duck confit, and caramel cheesecake. First off, I did not like the setup of the restaurant. We were seated at a table that was less than 2 feet from a table on either side. This ruins the atmosphere. The service wasn’t great either. They came by to deliver the food, but never returned. Luckily they (accidentally?) left a bottle of water on our table so we could refill our own glasses. But now to the food:The french bread that came was delicious. The first course was nothing impressive. The duck fit was excellent. Moist on the inside, crisp on the outside. My beef bourguignon was not very good. It was very hot, as if it had been microwaved. Since it is supposed to be made as a low temperature braise, this should not be the case. The microwave would also explain which the meat was rather dry. I’m not sure if it was even made in-house. It could have been from a frozen package. It was also served over overcooked penne pasta. The noodles were limp and tasteless. This should either be served over potatoes or buttered egg noodles. The penne was not a good substitute. The dessert was awful. His cheesecake was very dense and rich. It was not served with anything to help cut the richness. It was the texture of a previously frozen cheesecake. I do not believe this was made on the premise. My creme caramel was horrid. The texture was chunky. There was no flavor. I believe this dessert was either prepackaged (most likely since the edges weren’t smooth when it was served, like it was cut out of a container), or it was from a poorly prepared mix.I love french food. I was looking for a reminder of Paris. This is not it. I cannot recommend this restaurant. My boyfriend now says he does not like french food. This should not be anyone’s opinion. This was just a mockery of what should have been delicious/

Wow. Had lunch there today and it was fantastic. The house made butter was incredible and the beef bourguignon and steak sandwich were even better. A great place for a hearty fall lunch.

Salmon with blueberries is very good. They have very good deserts – especially the strawberry crepe with ice cream and the profiteroles. I also like the spinach and seafood crepes eaten together.

Service was possibly the worst I have ever had. Over the course of our meal we had 3 different servers. They forgot the bread for my appetizer, the baked Brie, and there were inedible things on my plate. The entree was mediocre at best and I didn’t actually finish it. They put us by the kitchen and the wait staff were literally running through the aisles. The ambiance would have been very nice if it hadn’t been for the overwhelmed servers. I won’t ever return because it was one of the worst dining experiences in my life.

Just got back from a lovely evening with my wife. Cafe Normandie was great! We shared the Surf and Turf – filet mignon, crab imperial, salmon, and shrimp. Portion size wasn’t huge, but sufficient. All of it was simply amazing! The filet was incredibly tender and the shrimp was fresh. We also had the french onion soup. I dont usually like french onion soup, but this stuff was good! Our server was friendly but not overbearing. The atmosphere was pretty cool – cozy, but comfortable. A huge fireplace dominates the dining room and soft lighting sets a romantic mood. Overall, Cafe Normandie, although certainly not budget dining, is a decent value for a romantic evening for two.

Good, solid, classic Norman French cuisine, with seasonal and daily specials. Always a solid performer.
